Finally someone who's doing a real-time live review so you can actually hear the players' reactions! I find most other to be a bit biased, especially the written ones. I really recognize the guys' reactions in this one from when I tried the game first. And I think it's awesome they are impressed they way they are by the game and the fact that Vice has made everything by himself.
Good one Dave, thanks for putting it up!

I read the worst review of this game recently. Maybe I'll try to find it, basically the reviewer tried the game for like 2 or 3 hours then wrote a review.... It's like watching 10 minutes of a film and then reviewing it. Dishonest, unfair, should not be allowed. Since i like reviewing games and that i feel this one deserves attention (and that vice deserves all the credit he can get) i intend to write a user review on GS soon. The only reason i haven't done it yet is there's still some parts of the game i haven't experienced. And i've like what? Maybe played 25 to 30 hours so far? I mean, yeah i do realise professional reviewers can't afford to try a game for that long before writing a review, but you know.... Reviewing a game when you've just barely started to figure out how to handle your ship is not fair.
Ok here's the review (i commented on it at the time, i'm the one called Milk):

Its actually the first thing that pops up if you type Evochron Mercenary review in google. And THAT right there is unfair. I mean thew reviewer complains about the key mapping! Which, you can completely reconfigure if you JUST bother going through the menu.

I fully second you there Raynor. I read that very same review and I agree with you that it is an extremely unfair one. The worst thing is, like you said, that it pops up at nr#1 if you google 'Evochron Mercenary reviews'. I find it extremely aggravating that there's absolutely nothing one can about this sort of biased reviews, or about the fact that it is listed as high as it is.
To be honest, I wish bastards like him, LFFPicard, should be prohibited to write reviews if they don't spend enough time with a game to actually get a good picture of it or start playing it while they have already made up their mind, like this sore loser most definitely did.
It's a friggin insult to the game and Vice himself if you ask me.

I tottaly agree. The review is totally wrong and unfair. I give the reviewer himself 5 negative or red XXXXX. Like the person expect to step into a complicated space craft and expect to know how to do and know everything in 2-3 hours while to become an astronaut it takes decades of training!. I wonder if the reviewer ever tried Falcon Allied Force the realistic F16 Flight simulator game!. And that took me much longer and was much harder to learn then Evochron Mercenary!......
I posted my input unto that forum and spoke out my mind about the unfair review!.....

You can ignore reviews most of the time as professional reviewers don't even bother playing lesser games but I'm wary of some users reviews.

Wow, check out this one from a user on metacritic:
Imagine going to dinner and spending $25 dollars for your entree. When it arrives at the table you are presented with a 4 piece chicken nuggets with a small order of fries. Pretty sure you would be upset. This game needs another 3 years of development, and an infusion of several million dollars. Seems like PC gaming has been moving backwards since I started playing in 1986. Avoid this title and go to Pizza Hut instead. You'll thank me for it later.…
Completely failing to understand this is a indie game made by ONE person.
Wait wait, another one:
I wasted $19.99 on t his junk! I feel so ripped off. The intro video and graphics were awesome, but when playing the actual game, I found that the tutorial wasn't enough, too many keys to memorize, it felt like a lower version of the already low end rip off of Universal Combat, a knock off of the same game called Battlecruiser Millenium. Same game engine it appears to be, only I couldn't find any FPS in the game, not that I was looking very hard. Too busy trying to figure out how to get from point A to be B safely. The in game radio chatter is a total nuissance. I got the great impression that the makers of this game were trying to compete with X3 Terran Conflict, but failed miserably. The missions are few, and pay very little, and the learning curve for this game is pretty high, so I wouldn't expect to jump right into it anytime soon. I'm alright with the game engine, I would rather have ok graphics with a game that does a bit of everything than a souped up game with all the bugs. But my personal opinion of this game, is it could have gone so much farther, if the developer would have been me.
Well geez, then go ahead, buster. Go ahead and make a better game why don't you. Cause you know, it's just THAT easy.
And then:
Cons: As a serious sim it does take a long time to travel. Landing on planets takes several minutes, better bring a book! Graphics are passable, but not a selling point. Overall it is unforgiving in all the wrong points: - the first race you enter you have to race a ship that can knock you off course at will and if you fail you have to pay for gas and try again. -When you warp to a station prepare to hit the brakes as soon as you exit the jump. You will be headed toward it at max speed. I really wanted to get into this game but after an hour of frustration I could not will myself to pick it back up. And I have played and enjoyed space sims since 1998. Give this one a pass unless you love frustration.
It does NOT take several minutes to land. It's a pretty quick process, really. And then the jump thing, obviously they dd not take time to learn that you shouldn't jump at the exact coordinates and besides, you're not coming in at full speed unless you leave it on inertial flight. I don't know why i bother but its just frustrating to see people being so wrong because they just didn't bother to learn how things worked. Like the complaint about the race is pretty lame.
