Mining? Best income-to-time ratio?

Post by The_decaff »

So like I said in my previous post, I've been mining in the agate system for awhile now and it's been very prosperous. I do enjoy mining however it can get rather stale after about an hour to an hour and a half even though I'm making about 765,000 every 5 minutes. Honestly, this game is so massive it is rather daunting so I was wondering if someone could fill me in on their tactics to get large amounts of money in short periods of time. Either that or medium sums of money but is enjoyable to get. Basically I could just use some more motivation is what I'm saying. Thanks guys.

By far the best way to make money in this game is to buy low and sell high. Make sure your ship can hold as much as possible. Depending on how daring you feel all you really need to keep is a jump drive, store everything else so you have the space (and I do mean everything including weapons, and if you find something nice store that also). The only other thing you might want to keep is a shield generator, but if you can get in and out fast you do not need one. Be sure to put the Excalibur missiles in the cargo bay so it only takes up one cargo bay spot, and not all 8 secondary weapons spots.

Do this anyway, but especially when trading with a stripped down ship, be sure to save regularly, and also from time to time save to a new location. If you happen to save the game at a dead end (like right before you blow up) you can at least go back to the previous save location and not have to start over.

Fulcrum Torp Trading. Buy a license from a trade station and then buy the fulcrum torps, then trade them at a carrier for 700K - 2.5 million in profit per unit. Salfer introduced me to that one. I've only done it in the Arvoch Warzone (off Pearl) but Agate has a carrier too, so it's worth a shot. With 8 weapon hardpoints you can make an INSANE amount of cash in an hour or two.
