Greetings all.
So, I've been learning quite a lot from lurking here; I'm decent at combat now that I understand laser vs particle (although I still think ships that advanced should autobalance shield allocation; it's annoying that the enemy does but I have to mash 'num 8' or such) and I don't fly directly at the enemy.. but one thing that still confuses me is the reputation system.
I just got into Cerulean System , and things are pretty good until a hostile navy ship attacks me, in which case I defend myself, and then I get swarmed by ten more navy ships that are far stronger than mine. I've always supported the navy in every other system I've been to, and performing contracts seems to barely affect reputation at all. Can anybody offer some advice?
Does faction reputation bleed across systems? Does performing a contract automatically reduce rival reputation (say, if I clean a solar array for the navy, will the rebels and guild like me less)? Should I just not care about certain systems that are predominantly hostile towards me?

Weird. I'm at present in the Cerulean System and Navy is friendly (and wasn't in the Onyx System). One thing I've noticed in The Olympus System is when you have accomplished a contract for another faction as Energy, it affects reputation for Navy. And Navy was in conflict with Energy in that system.
At one moment some navy ships were firing at me when Navy reputation was at 50% or so.
Working for Navy is a good way to improve your relationship a little.

Faction reputation
Hi and welcome.
Faction reputations do not bleed across systems.
If you do contracts it will affect reputation with other factions as well.
If you do contracts for Navy, Energy or Miners you will eventually have a good reputation.
