Benefits from Planetary Trading?

First post! woot! But anyhew, I'm pretty new to Evochron so go easy on me here. So I was basically wondering what the benefits were for trading with planets. I've been doing some mining in the Agate system and its been going pretty well. How ever I would have thought that landing on the planet would be better selling prices seeing as how it's on the planet and the planets labeled "Technology". Prices are exactly the same with the Agate station. So here therein lies my question, what are the benefits of landing on a planet and could you give me some good examples of why you'd do such a thing. The community for this game seems pretty rad. I can't wait till I grow the balls to jump on a server and clan up.

hi. no reason to wait to play MP really.

and planets don't really have much of a reason to land on them as far as trading is concerned. This will likely change in the expansion I think, with the introduction of planetary walkers.

Mining on planets will produce elements not available on asteroids.

Planets can offer some unique trade benefits. Pay attention to their economy types (displayed in parenthesis after their names). This will help you gauge what kind of items might be in high demand and planets can pay upwards of 50% more for certain items compared to the nearby stations, more than offsetting the increased cost in fuel to descend to their surfaces. Likewise, you can also find significantly lower prices for some items (up to 75% off). Sometimes, just running certain commodities from the surface to a station will gain you a 25% profit.

Welcome Decaff. Other than quests to, missions from, and variable items & commodities you may acquire in planetary cities, strafing planets can get you into fighting pilot dogfights that -I think- are more challenging than fighting in space due to the imminent dangers of crashing into ground, mountains or water.
