The first mission I accepted was about going to a nav point where a supposed ship would be and then I would have to jettison an item below the ship. Simple right?
I go to the nav point, there are no ships whatsoever in my 3d map and when i try to jettison the cargo exactly at the nav point and nearby it sais I'm not close to the ship.
Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
There are ships in the distance, but they are ten thousands of miles away and if it IS one of those, it is definetly not clearly indicated to which ship exactly I have to drop the cargo at.
Help a noob out?

Unless the particular quest bugged somewhat one thing that may have happened is you might have accidentally set your Nav point after accepting the quest. Pressing Alt+Jump is my most common way of doing this as that sets a Nav point where you are facing at the max. range of your jumpdrive.
You'll want to accept the quest and make sure you don't reset the nav point and just jump to where the quest has set it for you. Depending on your pitch and bearing the ship you need to deliver to may be directly in front of you or behind you but will ALWAYS be in visual range, I'd say between 6k and 8k.
You will know the correct ship to be delivering to because it will have a "green box" below it denoting the area where you need to jettison the cargo.
Best way to complete would be to load a saved game and do the quest as described. AFAIK there's no way of finding the correct NAV point again for normal contracts if you accidentally moved it because the coordinates are not recorded anywhere. Although if you didn't move it far you could be lucky and still be able to find the ship you need to deliver to.

Hi Broadsword, welcome to the game and forum!...Hope to see you out there some time!....

1. The Nav Point marker a Yellow Box!
2. A blue rectangle in case you accidently lost your Nav Point Marker.
If you lost the location of your waypoint nav marker look for a light blue rectangle on your Nav Map and click on it using both top and rear view to set your Nav Point marker back on the light blue rectangle!.....

Also for that type mission there will be a greenish outlined box underneath the ship you need to deliver to and your ship must be inside this box before you eject the cargo.
