You might start seeing more and more [MG] tags around the public servers while we're working on our own server solution so I'll explain who we are and introduce us to the Evochron Mercenary community...

Founded in 2007, MilitaryGamers.com is the multi-platform, multi-game, online gaming community for US military service members past and present. We have dozens of official and unofficial active branches in countless online and multiplayer games that go by the name MilitaryGamers/MilitaryGamers.com or are sometimes also known by various other role-playing-friendly names usually tagged as "[MG]". We have hundreds of members (just shy of 1,000 as of this posting) worldwide who actively game together in just about every time zone. Our members come from all walks of life but share at least one thing in common, all of our MG members are presently serving or have served in a branch of the armed forces of the United States of America.

We accept anyone who's served into MilitaryGamers.com as a lifetime MG member. Just register an account and indicate your interest by filling in the required profile fields.

We also have a MilitaryGamers.com Auxiliary for our MG members' friends and family that are over 18 years of age. Acceptance into the MGA requires a referral/sponsorship from a current MG or MGA member at the time of registration.

If you're serving or have served, look no further, you've found the the perfect gaming group for you! There's nothing to lose and plenty to be gained!

If (since I'm from the UK and not ex-mil) I'm not USA ex-mil, does that mean I can't play on your EM server?

I just need to know so I don't offend by trespassing (plus the civ "mil" pilots are bad hard enough to survive in EM, never mind stepping into "real mil" territory!

If/when we have our own server operational (soon, I hope), if it is listed publicly, anyone can play on it that abides the few common anti-griefing/ganking/racism/etc. rules. Bottom line, public is public.

The US military-only rule applies to our community memberships, i.e. to become an MG member within MilitaryGamers.com. We're in a multitude of games and our members are all over the place.

About the server... One major hurdle will need to be overcome in regards to hosting our own. While we were able to work around not seeing the server control text, for whatever reason, the 2D server client tends to disconnect players and stop responding randomly, often with no crash error. We're not sure why, but we have our suspicions that it is related to the type of server we generally use to host our game servers. It's a VDS/VPS, a virtual box on a physical box we lease. We're currently working on putting EM on a physical machine to get around this issue.

Until then, we've began visiting the Evochron Horizons server since it seems to be pretty stable and it is based in the US where most of our active members are playing from.

Our server has been up and running publicly since last night. So far so good but we could use a few more folks to connect to it to help load test to find our current limits.

It's "MilitaryGamers.com" on the internet server list.

Notes

-It's 100% Open PvP on our server anywhere outside of Sapphire. You don't need to ask anyone's permission to kill someone else, raid/destroy stations, conquer systems, etc. However, there is a no griefing/ganking rule. Basically, if you kill someone and they don't actively seek you out to get revenge, move along and find someone willing to put up a fight. In Sapphire, you're allowed to defend yourself against players who are not following the rules and attack you first.

-We don't tolerate the usual douchebaggery such as racism/ethnic slurs in names, chat, etc.

-MilitaryGamers.com is an adult community and so profanity, as long as it's within limits, is allowed in chat.

-Report any violations of our rules to the next [MG] member to come on the server. Do not use our website to complain about server issues. Users who do this will receive no response and will have their accounts/posts deleted.

Well, the server is back to private status again. It was tying up a member's machine and wouldn't allow him to play other games. Once we have a permanent server solution we'll review putting it back up publicly.
