For years I've looked for a space sim where you could go anywhere, do anything, land on worlds with no loading screens (fly directly into the atmosphere) and have complete freedom. This looks like that game. Downloading the Evochron Mercenary Demo from gamersgate right now.
One thing that could be a deal breaker is whether it has multicore support. That was one thing that kept me away from the X series games since it would lag out because it would only utilize one core and get bogged down.
Any who could answer my questions would really help. And any other awesome features this games has please share. Thank you.

welcome welcome. Let me just add that this game performs very well and is pretty forgiving about system requirement. Specifically addressing your reference point, X3TC run ok on my computer, but there is a definite lag, especially within menus and in large battles, whereas EM runs perfectly, with no hitches, and with other programs running in the background.
Life is an illusion. Only shooting red things is real.
