Starting as a Combat Pilot

I noticed that starting as a combat pilot is quite different than starting as any of the other three. With the other three, you start off in space with a lot of text giving some instructions regarding the game and where to start. Starting as a combat pilot you are simply docked on a carrier in the middle of no where with no information what so ever.

Is this intentional?

When starting as a combat pilot I try and do the one and only contract offered on the ship you are docked at. It sounds simple. Just find a certain object in space. But when I travel to the nav point there is nothing there. I don't see how it is possible to resolve the contract.

Something seems bugged. I'd thought I would see if anyone here could shed any light.

You should be able to see a purple blip on your radar once you reach the navpoint. That's the object, now all you have to do is get close enough.

Hi Tholan, welcome to the game and forum. When you get to the nav point look for a purple blip on your radar and fly towards it .....When you fly towards the nav point keep going straight till the purple blip appears on your radar then change course to intercept the blip......

Maarschalk is right. It's how I finished them. But it doesn't count towards your military rank, though.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I followed the puple blip and found the little box. Its small. How the heck did someone misplace it in space anyway ;-).

Just getting my bearings in the game. I found New Hope and starting doing some racing missions as these seem to be more suited to a new combat pilot (and they are somewhat more fun that the find an object mission).

Well, good luck Tholan. I recommend the find boxes missions they increase your rank quickly.

Hi all! Just want to verify something. If you start as a combat pilot, you do not have IMG missions. I havent seen any. Is this correct?

That is correct funkylunk. If you want to start the img questline, you will need to dock at a station, enter the shipyard, and get yourself a civilian ship. Immediately upon doing so, the quest message will appear in your message box.

I didn't know that "find box" missions could raise your rank. But maybe happens only to the combat pilots?

The ever loved "box" missions only raise your military rank in the warzones, like cerulean, talison, sierra, and avoch. There are probably more but those are the ones i know of.
