Well I've recently gotten back into gaming...the fall semester is winding down.

I have my savegame from last year with a good ship, good weapons, and 69 million credits I'm just not ready to give up on. Right now I'm in the Cerulean WZ at Command Beta. I have no idea how I got here or why I came here...aside from probably honing up my combat.

I don't remember the trade lane I was using to make all that credit. But I'm just taking random combat missions where I do my best to survive against the Vonari. It's a challenge to say the least be it's getting really fun! I hired a few ships to the fleet and I'm getting better.

But I feel a bit lost...nagivation-wise, I want to find my old trade lane ( I had it written down on a piece of paper that is long gone...), so I may just go wander and see what there is to see. Maybe even go back to Sapphire and see what it takes to start the quest.

I've been playing this which has spurred me to get FS2 Open, WC Darkest Dawn and X3 Terran Conflict (considering buying AP for $10) to see what itches my needs. I keep coming back to EM and then I play for a bit, get lost...save and leave.

I'm debating starting a new profile as I have stated before...but it's tough to let my good save sit there and NOT choose it. I suppose I could put my current ship in the hangar and get a military frame and continue the combat route. Though the combat ship I'll get probably won't be nearly as effective as my current loadout.

I'm reading guides and watching videos when I can...honestly I want to get in and play. And I also might seek some help via MP in the future.

I've been a member of this forum for years...and I gotta say this is one of the slowest times I've ever seen here...I've been advertising the heck outta this title to anyone willing to try the demo and is up to the challenge.

Sorry this thread is more of an open-ended inquiry/rant/my experiences thread... I have a good save but am a total noob. The KB + Mouse controls are awesome!

Good to know! I thought I was still in the area where I was trading. I looked at the market/economy map and it appeared the stronger economy was on the other end of the map...so I figured I went up that way to battle it out with my enemies.

Well I guess I'll search out what this trade route was...I do have one point saved in my map and I'm not sure why. Time to find out.

So I am a little more curious about building auto miners and my own stations and how it will effect the economy and my income.

- Is there a way to have a continual income without having to actively run trade routes? I.e. does trade work by other visitors to your station? Or can you send/hire ships to run your routes for you for a price? This would be a cool option honestly. Especially if there is ever any kind of 4X-ish empire building in the future. Maybe I'm watching too many X3 training videos right now...trying to figure that game out too...but I keep coming back to EM. :)

Im just curious if your income is always based on your piloting and actions or if you can have some residual earnings from owning stations and what-not. It would be kinda cool to have some constant income...I guess always doing contracts and trade-routes is plenty income worthy though! Once I find this trade route I'm sure I'll be able to have quite a nice income...I am still maintaining the 69 million credits with all my random acts of combat just outside the station and coming in to refuel and reload.

I really like the handling of this sim versus X3TC...I do like how X3TC feels more alive though. But so far I just don't feel like that's enough to sway me away from my EM experience. If i can just figure some things out and become more effective in combat we'll be good to go.

Hi space peoples

there are lots of good and very good trade lane, some of them between planets outside gated roads and so on

you even can create trade spot at some place..

some constructions make price of an area gettin higher, so, find a place where goods are interesting to trade, build up some station like search one ore one and so on, prices are gettin higher

then you need to build supplier station outside this area, you get then cheap prices on one side and high price on the other side, sometimes at less then 2 jump away..
you even can build 2 or 3 stations for supply enough interesting goods before go sell them in the expensive area... because sometimes the time you trade them the supply station did not build new ones, so you change supplier station and you still can make your cargo/slot full

dunno if my explanation is clear enough but...

:)

good trades !

Hey thanks Major.

I'm still looking around. It appears right now buying at Cerulean and selling at Atlas is a little productive.

I haven't built anything yet...so I'll have to learn what to build where and see how it affects the local markets. I don't know what to look for to find a good spot to trade honestly. The area I'm at was from a forum suggestion to find a good trade lane from over a year ago...and I can't find it anymore lol.

So how far outside the area would I build the supplier station? Different sector? Next 50kx50kx50k sector?

So what about automated trading with NPC's? Is there such a thing? I think it'd be kind of cool for new trade routes to come up from NPC's buying and selling at your stations as well.

So far my trading luck is so-so tonight...I wonder where the heck my trade route was up this way! Maybe one of the recent updates changed it.

Well I will say buying Fulcrum Torpedo's and Walkers from the station at Talison WZ has proven lucrative. Well for me at least...I've almost doubled my total credits in just a small handful of runs. I think I'm averaging 12+Mil/run...I haven't actually tracked it. I haven't even bought a license from Talison yet. Lol.

Talison WZ --> Talison --> Cerulean --> Atlas

So would it do me any good to build a station near Atlas to buy stuff from to sell there?

Thanks for the tips Marvin! :)

Okay. Thank you!

Can you please explain to me why this is? Too close? Market issues?

I really want to build a useful station! :)

Edit:

How do I know my station is going to produce weapons? I really like the gun-running aspect! I kinda wish warring factions would notice that I'm running weapons and bid for my services to various WZ's and hideouts. That's be a cool side-quest.

Your station utilizes the same technology as other stations in the sector. What they sell, you'll be able to produce at your own station.

Okay...but if I build a station near the Atlas gate...which I tried but must have been too close to the gate it kept giving me errors..I was in Cerulean....but if I build a trading station there, it'll produce some of the weapons I like running from the Talison WZ? Or should I build closer to Talison? Now I'm confusing myself...I will be building a station soon! This darn CCNA Networking Final is coming up fast so I gotta cram for that first.

 I haven't done any planetside racing in quite awhile but, IIRC, you need to be about 8000km above the surface when you initiate a challenge ... and your opponent should be prepared to immediately accept the challenge. The "track" will then be created half in space and half in the atmosphere.

Hello Kursah. For honing your combat skills, you may wish to try out the various war and conflict zones against the AI/NPC/Vonari pukes. The Talison Conflict Zone is where new Combat Pilot profiles spawn-in, and is just a touch less difficult than the rest. Alternate your efforts between Command Alpha trade station and the Eclipse military carrier. You may have a better time of it. And, don't just do the combat missions. All missions completed in CZ/WZ's count towards military rank-point increases. Next, I would suggest the Cerulean WZ, the Sierra WZ, then the Arvoch WZ in Pearl. Mostly in that order of ascending difficulty (using my 'yardstick'). If you're flying MP-space, there may be other human pilots who will assist in your efforts. Co-op missions in CZ/WZ's can be a lot of fun! ;):cool:
