My favorite server is Remula 1 because its a No rules Server (Except for No swearing).
You can get rank fast depending on how much you play. In two months of playing I became a Legend and am one step from being an Admiral with over 5 billion credits.
This game for some pilots is played too seriously! They can be a great help or become very thin skinned to the point of insanity! Buy this game!!!!! Tell your friends!!!!!

Thanks for the welcome! I installed and played the demo yesterday evening... It was great! At least until I jumped too close to a planetary atmosphere... :o

this is gonna take some getting used to! Much more "hands on" piloting than what I'm used to... :D

I think I'm gonna enjoy the exploration aspect of the game... I'm a Land Surveyor by trade IRL, so it's kind of cool to imagine a sort of "Lewis and Clark in Space" scenario... ;)

 There are a couple good mods for exploring unlisted star systems. You can find them at SeeJay's website ... but a word of caution: he also hosts a whole lot of spoilers so be careful where you go exploring when at his website.

If you played wing commander privateer or freelancer and even the mighty Elite you wont regret playing this game as you have that sense of freedom with actual direct control of your ship and not directing it like in a 4x space game or rts. Multiplayer as well as this forum have an outstanding community that helps you with the game. :)

Well then, an official welcome is in order. Welcome!

Also, don't forget that you can jump freely between multiplayer servers and single player whenever you want, continuing your adventures right where you left off. It's a great feature to have if you feel like playing alone one night, then you want to socialize or ask some questions the next.

Have fun!

'Ello, I'm an X Universe guy as well, just tried this demo out last night. I spent most of the evening setting up my flight control. The demo seemed to hit a snag during the navigation segment. It asked me to choose a point close to x:40000 / y:40000 and wouldn't continue on after I did. That's probably because I accidentally warped a few times whilst playing around with the controls, and the location was context sensitive.

Anyway I can see this is a different animal than X3, and I'm cool with that. I'm going to monkey around with the demo some more tonight, I'll probably be purchasing the game. Hope to see you guys in multiplayer, it sounds like a cool aspect of the game.

Quick question about multiplayer - if someone destroys my ship am I just out of luck? Guess I'll just have to try it and see.

If your ship is destroyed for any reason, you just respawn at last "save"

 Save and save often ... especially after you've done something difficult. Then, if you die, you go back to your last save. ;)

Thank you kindly for the responses. The more I read about this game in this forum, the more I'm convinced it's something I'll enjoy. Looking forward to many crash landings in the name of discovery (as in, discovering how to land on a planet the hard way, though trial and error)

I also save in a new location with a new name from time to time. For example I have saved Countjimula A, Countjimula B, Countjimula C and so on. I do this because you never know when you might accidentally save a game in a bad spot, or want to go back in the game after doing something you regret. It is also good to have a backup someplace else so that if your hard drive crashes you do not have to start over.

Good choice countjimula - welcome to the game

Good strategy - there are 100 slots to you can be generous with saves. I keep 3 copies of my main profile! There is room to have "sections" of slots for different things 1-10 main profile; 20-30 explorer profiles 40-50 combat profiles etc

It's also useful if you haven't got time to explore an area properly or you want to go back to somewhere difficult to reach later (like Sol for planet landings!) I have Inc Sol, Inc Andromeda, Inc Sx=100 000 and so on!

:)
