Since BraveHart is such an excellent "PicMaker" I'll add camera icons on the map where he takes cool pictures!

Could be a cool touch to the site!

To clearify everything.
For starters I will add pics from BraveHart since he is one of the best snapshot pilots out there.
Don't get me wrong. There are several Pilots that make great creations.

The idea I got over a whiskey flying around last night was that it would be a cool feature to put
an image where it was taken if it's a really nice scenic view or a really cool fighting image.

I'm not skillful enough to allow pilots to upload pics themself to the site. The thought was that you email me
the image whith coordinates and a brief description of the situation.

I also have a limited space on the server:o, but if this really works well and it's popular I will extend my sites size without a blink of my eye;). I'm hooked on this sim and every dime spent on it is worth it.

So for starters I'm testing this with Brave. Others will follow after a test period. Hope this is OK with you guy's out there. I don't intend to upload a huge amount of images, only the really great ones since it takes a lot of space.

The snapshots are a really good idea. Some of the scenery and planets out there are truly beautiful. Especially the gas giants where you can see the movement in the atmosphere.

To save your server space though it may be an idea to have the snapshots stored in JPG format and resized smaller (smaller the image size, smaller the file size).

You are truly right about the images.

I know about image/size relation. I just ment that it might not be possible to put up like 10.000 images as it is now:P

If this becomes popular I can only imagine how many images I will recieve.

Do you really have to upload images on your site? Can't you just hotlink them from hosting sites?
The screenshots we put in the thread here are already hosted somewhere, and in theory they don't need to be hosted again somewhere else...

Maybe not. I was thinking to add comments (from the pilot) as well to the images. Maybe it's possible even if I link to another location. If so, there would be no limits to the amount of pictures.

That's a good point, Rush. I was wondering about suggesting a photobucket account for them.

I would suggest that SeeJay controls any such hosting though, otherwise at some stage rather than images we might get "This image has been removed messages" that SeeJay can do nothing about.

Also he'd have no control over what sites were involved, and some of them (imageshack for example) are renowned for the pop ups they generate.

Good point ... especially the part about Imageshack.

I checked the site yesterday, SeeJay, and it's really looking good. The icons you're using are nice ... really classy. The only thing I can suggest is maybe add a "margin bar" (or whatever that thing is called so you can slide a window to see parts covered by a too-small screen resolution) to the window on the right-hand side (same as the one of the left-hand side).

Ahhh! I was a bit slow before.

I have added the requested slide bar now Marvin. Check it out and see if this is what you meant.

Or do you mean like a Travel Channel that shows you different destinations for your holidays? Even thou I think your pulling my leg here, it might be a funny feature.
I'll give it some thought and see what I can come up with. LOL!

In MP you might have to travel to a certain player built station (rumour here on the forum for appr location) to get the name of it. Then use that name as a password to gain information about something!?!?!?

Thats not to hard to set up actually. (Just another crazy/stupid idea i get from time to time).

I have created a Photobucket account now and will try this out. It gives me 500MB
in the free version, and unlimited for a small fee.

- RiftSpace is online.
- The first image is up in Sol-system. It's not the famous Brave-image, it's just my own crappy image
to test the feature.

Back Out????? Do you mean scrapping the site? If so, I can assure you that I will not scrap it in a near future.

It's a cool side-effect from the game I never saw coming that you can actually use a simple site as an aid in your
quest. Makes the game even cooler. It's a time consuming project but it's really fun working with it.

The workload will probably decrease a lot when the "known" system is mapped.

Brave. I'll set it up tonight after I put my kids and wife to bed.
