Also if I remmember correctly, Stations are blue dots on radar and coordinates are blue text, JumpGates are purple/pink dots on radar and text is also the same color as the dots.
And Yellow is for Planets, Moons and astroid fields I believe that is iirc!....;)

Notice 2 sets of coordinates, the first set is the Saphire sector coordinates and the second set are the coordinates in the Saphire Sector 0, 0, 0!
;)
Oh, thank you, I had edited my post with that last question without refreshing, so didn't see your post till after I asked the last question. I'm going to see if I can end up near the beacon naturally through the game, but if I don't find it soon, I'll use those coordinates and see what I can find on the radar and nav map.

Edit:

Alright, well, after getting blown up about a dozen times trying to get near those coordinates with the Fulcrum drive, I finally managed to find it; and yes, I guess you do have to scour the surface of Sapphire. The beacon does not show up on either the nav map or radar, so, the only clue is "on Sapphire". When you get near it, you get an equally cryptic clue as to where the next one is, which could be any of a number of planets in the area (well, I'm guessing that Glacia is not the only planet in the area with the characteristic mentioned).

Oh well, I guess that means that finding these beacons is a matter of stumbling across them as you do other things, hoping you will find one in the process.

 Actually, it's more a matter of having somebody like Denny working with you ... him and his uncanny knack for figuring riddles.

Denny being Maarschalk?

Well, any help is appreciated, though I'm not looking for a complete list of coordinates for beacons.

At least I now think I know how finding these beacons relates to the clues you get. Not sure how powerful, or rich, you need to be to start on the main quest line.

I'm assuming that, as I go through the game, I'm going to need to upgrade my small, fast, but limited (low number of slots) ship till I have a large, slow, but heavily armed ship.

Oh well, just got home from work, too tired to type more or to play the game. Perhaps I'll add more when I wake up. Later.

I never player renegades, but I did play Legends and the guide for Legends is still online.
I always thought there was a lot in common with these two games and even thought the beacons in Legends are
from the older games as well.
The legends guide gives spoilers for the locations of all the beacons for two beacon quests.

Might help a bit with Renegades as well as legends.

 Btw, the entire Renegades "quest" is also available in Legends ... where you get two quests for the price of one. ;)

What are you saying? If I just play Legends, it's the same as starting out with Renegades (only with more gameplay options)?

Edit: Okay, checked out the Legends strategy guide, found that list of beacons for the "Hunt for Riftspace".

So, then comes the question: If the series of quests for the "Hunt for Riftspace" in Evochron Legends is the same as the series of quests in Evochron Renegades, is there any reason to play Evochron Renegades?

Edit 2: Well, I'll say this, EL is much nicer graphically. I like that those "outrigger" station elements near the station at Sapphire have some "holograms" floating above them. It makes them look more useful. I like the new gateway design, station design, and the fact that there are more than one dockable city on the planets, and you can see their beacons from space. I was also able to see the first "Hunt for Riftspace" beacon from space, as well (at first I thought it was a city, till I saw the beacon for a nearby city). "Shiny!"

So, it seems I have a choice, play Renegades through to it's conclusion, or play Legends and limit myself to following the "Hunt for Riftspace" quest line till that is complete, before following the new quest line presented near where the game starts. I find it somewhat confusing that Legends does not present "Hunt for Riftspace" first, unlocking the other quest line once you've at least started "Hunt for Riftspace", but, okay.

I may have to wait for my new computer to be complete (a few more months to get the rest of the parts) to get the full benefit of the new graphics without a big hit in framerate, but the planets look great with plants. I look forward to mining among the foliage.

BTW, if I do abandon my game in ER, and just play EL instead, is there anything I miss out on, will the game be more difficult when trying to follow the "Hunt for Riftspace" quest line? Is it even advisable to follow just that quest line without following the other?

Yes, I forgot about that, You can play Legends to do both beacon quest. There is a little difference between the end between the 2 for the Rift Space Beacon Quest iirc! But you could check the end out in ER after you have finished it in EL to see what the difference was!....Just incase if you did not want to miss anything!....;)

Well, at this rate, I may just play Legends and forget Renegades. However, it does raise the next question: Are both beacon quests also included in Evochron Mercenary, or is that actually a sequel with no parts of the other two in it?

Oh, and, in ER and EL, I note that you can buy a license from the stations and cities, but it's 1.5M credits, and I'm wondering if it's worth it to get one early in the game, or is it better to just spend your money upgrading your ship, then save the rest to buy a license in a better location than Sapphire (more lucrative, that is)?

 Early versions of EM might've had the old quests included (IIRC) ... but (if they did), to keep the game's download reasonable, the subroutines were deleted. So, to do them, you must play EL ... then play EM to do the latest quest.
