At least I working from a fully working game (touch wood) and I guess that very very high res nebualae aren't the be all and end all!
I'll have a play disabling AVG, reducing the resolution or reducing the rsolution of some of them
Thanks to everyone for their help - it's changed a stressy problem into an interesting puzzle.
