Thing is, after I get burned in space by Oasis or whomever the current Lancelot is, I can replace my ill-fated ship at a station. Raven can't buy a Cohesive Argument Generator at Evochron Station no matter how many credits s/he's got.

You'll get used to Ravenfeeder's highly self-opinionated subjective attempts at derailing threads.

Rarely is his argument objectively centered around the topic matter and more to do with his own personal fiction of what he likes, so I'd let him have his say at leave it alone instead of trying to co-erce any adult conversation. Also I'd suggest leaving the predjudical argument that only veterans have an valid opinion out of it really as its another created fiction imho.

Fortunatley on his own RF ultimatley doesnt decide the development of the game so I wouldn't feel discouraged that a number of people are rasing a valid argument of how the game could potentially be improved and perhaps make it more comercially attractive. However, logistics for development is another issue as wether they are pipe dreams in reality of course.

 Actually, I think there's one of those CAGs hidden inside some wreckage, located near the back of a cave asteroid that's orbiting a hidden planet somewhere between Vonari and Sierra.

You gain knowledge over time, through experience. No one argued against that. I'm pretty sure that's your second straw man this topic.

What I'm calling you out on is your out-of-hand rejection of a set of issues or solutions based on the presenter's experience. You don't get to do that. Trent bought the game - just as you did. He's got as much right to kick off this topic as you do. Even if it pisses you off that these ideas have come up ".. many times before.."

Have they? Maybe that's an indication that Trent is on to something.

What is really getting silly about all this is that you *still* haven't criticized the content of his posts, or the posts of those that followed up on-topic.

Why not put your experience to use and shed some light on all us n00bs?

Out of hand rejection? Where? I made a suggestion, not a rejection.

You haven't been around long enough to get used to my posts oh brain of the world.

Of course I don't decide the development of the game, never claimed to do so. I think that you'll find that the majority of my posts are involved in trying to help someone who has a problem, not posting critique of the game.

You have to live in Scotland for at least six months to understand the mentality of the Scottish.

Navigation: OK.. putting it plainly, the NAV system leaves a bit to be desired. Scrolling, in some fashion other than only in max-zoom mode would be great - right-click & drag, or buttons to click, something. Whatever the implementation you should be able to scroll the map in any level of zoom except the max 8x. Zoom Out should zoom out from the current sector you are in - it gets annoying to zoom all the way out and back in again.

I certainly agree with this.

Whilst the nav system is perfectly workable, there are a few additions that could make it far easier to use.

Apart from the above, I read last night on another post that the map log entries is limited to being able to display 199 entries (although further entries are recorded and can be displayed in game by editing the relevent txt file in the game directory).

Would it be possible to introduce some sort of folder system for map log points and have those folders selectable from within the in game navigation screen?

For example one folder per system, or one for gates, one for stations, one for planets etc?

Since the in game display can show 199 entries this would possibly mean it we could access 199 entries multiplied by x number of folders from within the game without having to resort to txt file editing.

It was raised to 500.
199 is the internal limit, although as you noticed you can move entries around in the file beyond that if you want to make them available in the game. Edit: the latest update increases this limit to 500. [Edited on 10-20-2010 by Vice]

Ah thanks Von Paulus, I'd missed that.

Still, a folder system would still make all those entries much easier to manage.

You mean Ravenfeeder made a generalised statement from his egocentric perception and left you confused with its meaning. I don't beleive it, he hardly ever does that, lol.

Despite that, it's yet another of his claimed fictions as I'm 40 this year. But I'm used to this kind of unfounded justification of reason and accurate factual content with RF.

Even so, he still seems to be able to entice sufficient support from his clan and others to continue to push the topic off track offering little value relating to the topic(s) as usual.

There's a word used to define such behaviour, "troll". But I doubt little will be done to moderate things, so it'll be a case of having to suffer such idiots with "their" childish needs. Which is a shame really as all it seems to do is potentially peturb players from making posts.

I have to say despite this that in the main I've found the Everchron community balanced enough to at least debate things sensibly offering intelligent insights into the game and their perceptions of how they enjoy them without having to attempt to belittle other people's opinions in the process.
