Flight Sim type voices weren't in Legends. If they were in an earlier game, I wouldn't know. I was busy sinking ships in Silent Hunter II, III and IV.
Ah yes, I thought you meant the "clear" radio chatter from the earlier games, not dynamic (MS FlightSim style) chatter. My bad.

Flight Sim has a set range of callsigns ... which is why ATC can call you directly ("pasting" together the aircraft type with a series of alpha-numerics). The callsigns in Mercenary are at the whim of its players ... impossible to place in a file.
True, however, wouldn't it be possible for every pilot in addition to their "nickname"?
Well, not every pilot is a mercenary ... you can also start with a military career. IIRC, the first release had clear radio calls using the term "mercenary" ... but I haven't heard any of them lately. If "mercenary" was changed to "pilot" you could at least pretend "ATC" was talking to you ... that is, until some other pilot responded.

Well, I thought that just hearing the chatter between other ships greatly enhanced the experience, but maybe that's just me...
I also felt the station chatter enhanced immersion. I also think that some more specific chatter/spoken communication from the ship's crew members would be good fun.
"Yup...finally listened and heard radio chatter"......"Yoda moment gotta love 'em"
