Could we have in-game avatars?

Post by Ravenholme »

Someone mentioned an Evochron RTS - I think if that route were to be gone, a more Evochron-like way to do it would be something like the X-series of games, but designed more around user-friendliness. I would love to be able to get wingmen, or eventually own my own capships, or hire ships to do mining for me - they get a percentage of the profit, I get the rest. And so on.

Would also work with multiplayer quite well, for Clans.

Okay, Ravenholme reminded me of a feature in Privateer 2 which I liked. If you wanted to trade in real numbers, you could hire an NPC with a transport vessel. It automatically loaded up the cargo (this could enable the elimination of cargo bays from fighter designs) and you contracted for a single run. You had to escort the vessel and make enough to afford the contract.

So, assuming larger transports aren't added to the game, this could be another option for those interested in trading.
