I have always enjoyed a good space game. I played Elite back in the Commodore 64 days (it was always a bit buggy but so fun to play) and have played a couple other space games that set a very high standard for what i wanted from this type of game. Most of the games i tried either had the right intention but did not have the technology or was not thought out well enough and hard to control. I have not played many of this genre since but have kept an eye out.

I think what sold me most on this game was reading what the developer wanted and had in mind for it. What he was describing he wanted for EM was exactly what i have always wanted to see in this type of game.

The only setback for me was the inability to get out of my ship and walk around. I mean even a professional pilot likes to get out and stretch his legs now and then. I cant wait for the expansion as it includes this very concept.

I found Evochron Mercenaries on a popup ad from Steam after playing another strategy game.

At first, I found it frustrating, but it grew on me. It's quickly becoming a favorite. This game is the solo player's replacement for Eve Online. Though there are some obvious differences, it's the open sandbox concept to make what you want of it. Not going back to Eve again! :D
Sometimes we may feel like we\'re walking on eggshells with some people, but why worry? The eggshells are already broken.

I read about Evochron Mercenary on the 3dcenter.org forum, as a part of the steam sale discussion.

I also found Evochron Mercenaries on a popup ad from Steam, but then I asked opinions on the forum of X Universe (I'm hardcore player of X Universe games since many years) and decided to take a try.

 You being a hardcore X player, I suggest you do two things in Mercenary: explore a few planets (maybe do some planetside contracts) and try flying from one star system to another without using jumpgates (maybe from Sapphire to Olympus, for starters).

Greetings all

I've seen the game first time 2 weeks ago on Steam. There was some sweet deal, 50% off, or something like that.
While I was making my mind will I or will I not buy it, discount time has passed and I had to buy it at full price.

Don't regret it one bit, creator(s) of this game should be rewarded properly for creating this wonderful world of oportunity.

CY in space pilots!

Steam. It might have been a sale so it was displayed on the main page. I don't remember but I know it was on Steam.

In my looonnngg quest for a lovely space game... i felt on EM while browsing 'one more time' the steam listing... then find EM.. then give a try to the demo, maybe weeks after founding... and get the full game even before the demo ended :)

I was playing Freelancer and discussing it on GameFAQs years ago when I first heard of the Evochron series ... must've been around the time Renegade came out. I was intrigued and looked it up but I'm not sure why I didn't get into the series before Mercenary. It was the YouTube videos that sold me and made me have to pick it up.

I an X series player. I love the game, love the series, hate the pace of the game, wish it had newtonian physics. I was playing orbitor/X3: Reunion but I was missing something......

I googled newtonian space sims. Hours later, I was downloading the demo. After the demo time was up (i'm so terrible), I was still unsure if i wanted to buy it, googled a serial/passcode, played it for another week, bought the game.

There are some features I wish the game had but there is sooooooooooooooooo *takes another deep breath* oooooooooooo much potential here its crazy.

I saw an add for it on Steam, and it looked like Freelancer, and I was in olden times vastly fond of Freelancer.

Saw it on Steam when browsing games a few months ago, thought it was a regular old space sim but saw the dynamically expanding thing by building stations. So I wanted to buy it to try that feature, went on sale probably a week ago now and I had bought it. Loving it so far.

I was just like, I need a space game that ya can fly about and explore vast open areas and customise ship and stuff, then I went on youtube and typed "Best Space Games" and up it came...

But, instead of best space games, this was on a video for BEST GAMES EVER...

And I totally agree!

I found Evochron near 2 years ago on a software site available only in Ukraine. I played near 3 month, was at Andromeda, Vonary... then I had no time to play. Yesterday I came back, played demo and finally bought official full game, because I realised that can't live without this little door to the future. And want to help SW3DG continue development of the game. Hope my grandgrandchildrens will have an ability to call for space taxi at last to the Mars, if not to Andromeda :)

My roommate had known for a while that I like space sims, so when he saw this on steam he recommended it to me. And I looked up reviews and thought "Eh, this sounds too technical". Much later, and after some SERIOUS research I decided this was exactly the game I was looking for. It's still "too technical", but it's a great game!

PC Gamer, just did a review. Sounded right up my alley. Skipped the demo, bought it. Awesome job, fun game.
