Oops sorry; I've reread it and can now see how linked to the 'up to snuff' comment the inference is that F is big enough even when mass increases given the % mass increase for typical cargo is small compared to the mass of the ship.

I am only a chemist by training though (lab coat, smoke, smells, flames explosions - not giving out pills! ) so sums can confuse me
