Well I think I have to change my mind on the new builds. I may be wrong but here goes. I worked my rep up to fair in Fauston with E,N at 100 and M at 98%. I had to leave the game for awhile and on my return My rep was still fair but E and N are down in the high 70's and low 80's. I recall reading some posts on rep's fluctuating but come on. This is not real to me. Am I wrong? If I save a game and we only get one save I expect everything to be the same or close when I return. I don't see the point in doing the same thing over and over. Oh well that was my rant 4 the day.

Fluctuations of 0-30% or so within a global reputation level are in the normal range if you leave a sector or exit the game. There are a lot of factors related to this, including numerous reputation threads that are managed during real time gameplay. When that real time gameplay stops, then the game treats that as removing you as a factor from the game's universe (or local sector), resulting in the potential changes. Your status and global reputation are preserved when you save, but if you are trying to manage your real time per faction reputations for the next tier and you need to step away from the game for a bit, I'd suggest pausing the game until you return or wait until you've been notified that you've advanced to the next tier, then save.
One save?
One save?

Nevermind, I'm entirely too slow on the draw.
That is perfectly fine with me, better even. So long as my old allies don't suddenly turn on me just because I've been gone a while.

Yes, your overall system reputation does not shift in your absence, unless you fail to save. You keep what you earn with your overall system reputation... as long as you save your progress. That is perfectly fine with me, better even. So long as my old allies don't suddenly turn on me just because I've been gone a while.
Edit: I want to restate a recommendation here. Whenever you receive a notice that your overall system reputation has increased or decreased, save immediately to prevent losing the progress you are trying to make. It is intentionally hard work to make major transitions in your reputation, so if you are destroyed by a sudden attack right after earning a new tier without saving, you lose the progress you made. So save frequently and especially after events like system reputation shifts.

As in One reloadable point. I know I can save time after time but only the last save point counts. I don't think i'm wrong on that point so yes one save in my mind.

Oh, a save slot. That's easy to work around, simply copy your pilot profile to other slots to save at multiple points. Save your pilot0.sw file as pilot1.sw, pilot2.sw, and so on at each point you want to store your progress.

Yes I know that I can copy my file and I leave one of each pilot file on my desk top. but that is very time consuming. Sorry to hear the rep can have such a wide swing but does that mean it can swing in both directions? I will try and see if my reps for diffrent factions ever start out higher than when I leave the game as I take notes as I play and I have not seen that yet. Thanks for the info.

Yes they can go in the other direction. The chances are greater that they'll stabalize a little lower if you're up over 90% with one or more factions, but the same is true if they are lower, say around 50% or so, they will have a greater chance of increasing. With both potential changes, it also depends on what your overall system reputation is and various events that occur in your absence.
