AurSyn is proud to announce another new member, welcome Hardass. I have been making some good progress training him and Parapilot. I enocurage anyone who is interested in joining in on the fun to let me know, all are welcome to sign up.

I have also moved ICE to a new inactive members list until he comes back or decides to leave the clan.

A Means to an End ...

Post by Hardass »

Thanks for having me. Glad to be aboard.

I am getting my combat skills up to par. I am still trying to dial in the stick for combat. Its an Saitek X52, and I'm semi satisfied. I think I may have to move up to the X-65 stuff once I get the hang of this one. I am a pvp fan at heart. Getting back to the 3D 360 movement is awesome. I've been a fan of this style of online combat since using Kali (#1121) to play Descent.

So, I am thinking this is going to work out well for me. Just surprised it took me so long to find it. It will take me a little bit to get the mechanics and the combat technique down. I will stick to the pve stuff until the AI gets easy(ier), so until then, the universe maybe safe for the rest of the clans.....

Thanks again

Carry On...

Thanks SeeJay and Hardass. Time for a substantial update, I have also edited the OP again.

Saleth aka Voidraptor has joined the ranks of the Auron Syndicate. We spent a good long time doing contracts in Sierra War Zone and the newly downgraded Talison War Zone. I think we now have a big enough online presence to maintain constant control to some degree in those two areas if no one contests it. But AurSyn does not claim the exclusive right to do contracts in those areas while clan tagged.

I'm happy to announce that the Auron Syndicate is now open to anyone who wants to join. I have been saying I am happy to accept anyone who wants to join for a while now on the R1 server but I would like to make it official. The only requirements are that:

1) Don't anything that would get you banned from the R1 server;
2) Abide by any agreements the Auron Syndicate makes with you and other individuals or clans;
3) Have some grasp of English. I may accept members who are not fluent at some point but if I can't communicate with you it will be very difficult to train you. If you can understand this post you are more than qualified to join.

No commitment is required for basic membership beyond that. Otherwise you are free to do what you want. For now let me know via this thread, U2U or on the Remula One server if you want to join. Soon I hope to get some members up to speed enough for them to accept membership applications in my absence. Once I have a "things you need to know" list people will be able to read that then post that they are joining in this thread and that will automatically make them a member. It is fine if you decide later to leave the clan at any point to become an independent pilot again (or join another clan/start your own).

I would also like to announce that the Auron Syndicate is looking for independent pilots (or those of other clans if it is ok with the clan) to do contract work to help raise AS control in areas it is trying to control. Doing contracts for AS does not imply a desire to join AS any more than doing contracts for the Energy/Navy/Rebel/Guild/Miner factions of any area makes you a dedicated member of that faction. But, most of the time you will need to change your pilot name to add an [AS] tag eg “pilotname to “[AS] pilotname while you are doing the contracts . To do that go into the pilot manager from the main menu and click rename pilot with the profile you want to use selected. Your regular name might have to temporarily change/shorten to fit the tag if your pilot name is over 9 characters. See the end of the post for details about the reward accepting this offer.

Please be aware that AS cannot vouch for the behaviour of non members using an [AS] tag and doing contract work for AS. Please check this thread to see the most current list of actual members. But if you see one or more AS pilots in an area doing contracts, feel free to say hi and jump in on the action. You only have to add the tag if you want to, the more the merrier either way. But, if you have the tag of another clan it would be appreciated if you remove it first to avoid cancelling out the gain in AS control (if it is less than 100%). The War Zones are still open to other clans to do contracts in, but the same will not automatically be true of other territories AS takes control of.

Members are also allowed to form their own personal subclan if they like for just themselves or including other AS members. At the moment it is a purely cosmetic thing but depending what if any changes are made to the clan system that may change. Feel free to place stations with your personal tag, please do not planet stations with an AS tag for now. If any existing or future clan (such as one that hasn't had any interest in clan control now) wants to enter some arrangement with AS (or even join AS) that would be welcome.

I plan to act as somewhat of a Gamemaster (GM) to try and enhance engagement, variety, motivation and longeivity for AS members (and everyone else). You can still join if you have no interest in any of that and can ignore it if you want. But, I have a whole bunch of ideas for stuff to do that might be fun.

For a start I am happy to introduce the first two ranks that Auron Syndicate members can have, Pilot and Gunner. The rank structure will evolve and grow in time, for now all members except me are gunners and I have no rank. I am thinking of introducing grades later but for now there is only one grade per rank. Members have a generous compensation package, I owe each current member more than 500 million credits. Compensation will get more generous with rank.

Some members are close to getting promoted to Pilot, the full requirements are currently:
Finished the IMG quest;
Military rank of at least Commander (150 missions) so has access to the high end military frames;
Civilian rank of at least Master (numeric rank 3000) for quasi-decent contract pay;

And my approval based on the following factors:
Decent number of contracts completed for the Auron Syndicate (currently about 100 but that will probably change and the exact number is not that important since it is hard to keep track of);
Read the game documentation (manual, EL guide, faq, universe info *I will put in links later*) and understands the essential mechanics of the game;
Has been told and understands the basic info needed to properly represent the clan;
Enough flying/training time with me for me to have an idea of their abilities and how I can help them enjoy the game more;
Enough confidence in their combat ability to be comfortable flying as their gunner (except when training).

I haven't put together all the info needed so no members currently know all they need to, though some are pretty close on that count and others. Once I am happy with the list there will probably be some promotions. I haven't finished deciding on the details for other ranks, but the requirement for ranks any higher than pilot will include at least a military rank of Fleet Admiral (1000 military missions) and civilian rank of Legend (9999+, 6 billion even without any other factors should do it) so AS members may want to work on those if they want to get promoted faster.

If possible (this is a suggestion not an order), I would like it if AS members could U2U me an update of where they are with requirements (IMG quest, Commander, Master). If you could also include your understanding of what I have told you to do conduct wise (ie behaviour generally and towards others not gameplay mechanics) that would be great so I can fill in any gaps and check what I am missing from my list. But I am also compiling a list of tips and info to get new players up to speed quicker so if there is anything I have told you (or you found out elsewhere) about gameplay that you have found especially helpful (or wish you had known sooner, or want to check you understand, want to understand more, have a question about etc) feel free to include it. At some point I would like to get a good idea of your control setup, how you want to participate in the clan and a general idea when/how often you plan on playing so feel free to include that (or just start working on it) if you like.

I would like to introduce the first medal available in AS and award it to Voidraptor (Saleth) for imposing artificial restrictions on what he is allowed to do. I am thinking of calling it “The Hardway Medal but if he wants he can suggest a different name (so can anyone else, but I will make the final call). I am not certain what restrictions he is imposing or how strict/formal they are (but it centers around being a combat pilot), so if he wants to post them in this thread (or U2U them to me) that would be great. I would like to give some kind of bonus along with the medal that fits with what he is trying to do. If any other AS member is imposing restrictions on themselves I would be interested to hear about it.

I am planning to offer very extensive training to anyone who wants it in the clan and it will be required to rank up, especially beyond pilot. There are lots of tips to learn about, things to try and exercises to master. For example, orbiting around the central pylon of a station is good practice for using inertial mode. Members are encouraged (but not required) to see how fast they can orbit and race other players (especially AS members) to see who can orbit the fastest. Betting using money they have on them or money I owe them is welcome. Playing other games (such as the one I came up with called Fulcrum Chicken) and inventing your own are encouraged.

For now, I am introducing two Diplomatic relation categories called friendly and associate. AS will treat people/clans as friendly by default but explicit deals to be non aggressive are welcome. Associates are for people who do the contract work mentioned earlier, either just while they are doing the contracts or permanently if they request it. Associates get less money per contract than full members (1 million for associates, gunners get 2 million atm and higher ranks will get more) but there is a 10 million credit bonus for the first contract you complete with an AS tag in a designated area (currently just the area around Sierra/Sierra WZ and Talison WZ on the Remula One server where AS has control) when AS control is less than 100%. Please do not complete any contracts outside those areas if you are an associate wearing an AS tag. If you subsequently join AS your pay will be back dated to whatever the appropriate pay level is (I will also back date pay on promotion, I will owe the existing AS members well over a billion credits each after I promote them to pilot). Feel free to track the exact number of contracts if you like but I don't care much, just don't deliberately try to deceive me. This is about fun, if you just want some money I am generally happy to give away some to anyone in need (though I respect people who want to do things the hard way, I even give them medals :)).

Much more to come later. Merry Christmas everyone.

Hardass, Parapilot and I have been running mil contracts and have gotten SWZ and TWZ above 90%. Now AS will attempt to gain control of CWZ (Cerulean War Zone). Hardass and I are there right now, it would be nice if AS pilots perform contracts in sector 2400,0,2500 and sit inside the station there when they are logged in but afk until we have a decent amount of control.

I have updated the front page with the current territory interests of AS.

EDIT: Another new member Drew (Drewbicus). We are about half way through raising CWZ and I have promoted Saleth and Parapilot to Pilot rank. Usually there would be a few things I would want to check first before promoting them but they are both reliable and I trust them to be the first Pilots (even if they haven't yet checked every box I would normally want those promoted to Pilot to check). Half the R1 server pop is currently made up of AS members and we have been the clan with the most members online for many hours now. I have to get some sleep before I pass out :).

EDIT 2: Still no sleep yet, but I have snagged two more awesome members. Welcome SeeJay and Katniss. Both of them have been assigned the field rank of Pilot.

I am very glad to announce that AS has a new second in command SeeJay and he has generously agreed to host AS stuff on his mapping website (link pending). I will update the rank stuff soon to reflect that. I am currently putting together what SeeJay and I need to agree on, a lot of which I will also share publicly.

I would also like to issue an apology to all AS members and other players. I am flying by the seat of my pants right now and haven't had time to put in place or explain clearly a lot of what I have in mind. Until then your patience is appreciated. In particular I would urge people to not be too quick to give up this game or clan membership (though anyone is free to change their relationship with AS at any time) because you think you have found the limits of the game or for some other reason. I have not yet shared a significant fraction of the secrets this game has to offer with any member and it does get pretty deep.

Hopefully members who join in a couple of months will have easy to follow instructions to get up to speed, until then AS has to deal with things as they come up. Let me know if there is any dispute about what to do in a particular circumstance or what I mean when I say something or my stance on something that hasn't been said. In particular, in pvp combat if both sides have different ideas about what the rules are feel free to change them as you go along. But, try to let it go if you and whoever you are fighting don't see eye to eye on what if any restrictions are in place. There are so many different combat scenarios to try and train for. It is enough to keep interested people occupied for a long time while barely scratching the surface.

More details to come.

EDIT:

Busy couple of days indeed. Atollski has agreed to join AS but asks he not be required to compete against other clans. As we are currently not competing against any others (in fact the only real rule of AS atm is to leave other clans alone unless stated otherwise and to abide by agreements AS makes) and anyone who doesn't want to participate in clan vs clan action can opt out (though I will assume some level of interest by default until you tell me otherwise, same goes for pvp combat in general and lots of other things).

I have decided to split the ranks up into grades and unveil some of the details of the next rank beyond Pilot, which I am happy to call Operative for now. The three grades (at least temporarily as always, probably will change/elaborate later) are field, junior and senior. There is no difference in pay or promotion bonus for moving between the grades for now. Anyone can be promoted to one rank bove the one they have met the requirements for on an as needed basis. Field grade members are free to ignore the requirements for their current rank and further progression but cannot be promoted to junior/senior/next grade field without first meeting the requirements. Junior is the default for newly promoted members who actually meet all the requirements, but it may be skipped straight to senior (or next rank field) as required. Senior is usually for people who are comfortable in the role they need to fill for their rank but may be conferred immeiately on any qualified individual. I will update the front page (hopefully soon the website) with who currently has what grade. Lots of people are just waiting on confirmation of various things before they can be promoted.

Operative rank will have much steeper requirements than pilot but is entirely optional. Two of the normal requirements will be 1000 mil contracts and Legend Civilian rank. Only SeeJay is an Operative now, with a grade of Field Operative. Congratulations on the promotion and your role of XO to my CO.

Time to say a bit about promotion and contract bonuses. Almost all members say they don't care about the money which is exactly why it is a useful thing to have fun with. I am happy to hold onto it and keep track for members (and associates) to make it easier to deal with, but you are able to get money paid out whenever I am online. One of the things I want out of my playing experience is to place bets on competing with other players for amounts that are actually a lot of money. A bunch of race linkages (I plan on trying many non-standard types of race as well) is a lot more exciting when each one has a billion credits riding on the outcome. Be prepared for more, I plan to try lots of fun stuff you can do with your AS bank account (btw anyone can open an AS bank account even if they do not want to join or do any contracts with AS, that includes bank accounts for entire clans).

The system will constantly evolve but for various milestones (and many of the awards/medals/citations/qualifications I plan to offer) members are awarded a bonus of some millions of dollars (or something else cool). 10 million for doing a first contract in a specified area with [AS] tags (whether or not a member). 100 million for joining and getting the lowest rank (Field Gunner but currently no bonus for moving to Junior Gunner or Senior Gunner). 250 million for moving from Gunner to Pilot. Pilot to Operative gets 1,000,000,000 minimum, so SeeJay's bank account already has more than 1,360,000,000 in it.

As Field Pilot is currently the highest rank people can attain before I have checked their experience meets at least some requirements that adds up to a 360,000,000 balance in their bank account right away for players for are already moderately experienced.

Each contract completed by an AS member (not keeping to much of a close eye on it right now, but AS members might want to keep an eye on their mil/civ contract totals) or associate also earns a per contract completion bonus. 1 million for associate, 2 million for gunner, 4 million for pilot, 8 million for operative.

You're making me blush here Aures.;)

Thx for the promotion. Atollski joined.:P Thats great news. I have made a bunch of combat/exploring missions
with him and Sinbad. Great fun and theyr'e both excellent Pilots. Didn't even get a scratch on my hull.
I haven't seen anyone exploring like him. He's like a vacuumcleaner in space, LOL!

Great to have you onboard mate.

I'll start creating the website tonight. I'll put a link on the Universe site and we lock it down
to members whenever you want.

This is going to be lots of fun.:P

Good to be in the AS brigade, thanks for the welcome!

Had better get the systems up and running pronto...

Although I can't seem to get the SQL program to work directly in the map log software, I managed to get it running in some form.

A bit of tinkering and hopefully should get data moving around the interwebs pretty soon! :)

Great working Atollski. Let me know it there is anything I can do to help.

Did a short session last night and got our Sierra % up a bit. Was alone in the sector and lots of
foes to blow up. LOL:P

Had a great session with Katniss the other night as well. Great flying girl, you learn by the minute.;)

Ohh, almost forgot. Our AS website is now up and running
and awaits Aures inspection. It will be closed for public
and only members may enter when the design part is done.

Saleth (Voidraptor) is leaving AS. I hope he might decide to rejoin in the future and am sad to see him go, especially if he loses interest in playing EM altogether. But I and the rest of AS wish him all the best.

EDIT: Drew has just beem promoted from Junior Gunner to Senior Gunner, congratulations. He has now been set up with a starmaster and some decent kit so has a chance to pay around with decent loadouts.

Thanks MCCON.

I have just promoted Hardass to Field grade Pilot.

sundalo I play at lots of different times, not sure about other AS members though. I don't think I have seen you on R1 at the same time as me unless sundalo is not the pilot name you use.

BA run a 24/7 Teamspeak server which you are free to use any time (Windows updates permitting!!!). Happy to supply the details.

But there is also the in game VOIP if you wish. Your choice.

Where's Aures been these days, lol think I've got the hang of trading now that I've established my Pearl runs, just need to make some more credits to start buying the more expensive items and ill be kitted out in no time. Let's definately do some more clan stuff together, we got to maintain our foothold Im the warzones lol. I'm waiting on getting my new joystick this weekend, a saitek x52 and a thrustmaster hotas x to use with the game. I'm enjoying the clan a lot reminds me of my fond memories back on vanilla WoW with the guilds I used to be in lol.
