Hi,
As some of you may know, the clan linking system can be used in a way not originally intended. An attacking pilot can link to his target and turn him green with out indicating to the target that this has happened. This has the effect of the attacker always being able to find his target just by using the PING function.
While I do not have an issue with tracking people in this way, I think it may be an idea for the target to be informed that he/she has been linked to. This will help in a few ways. First it means that a "friendly" linking does not have to be announced because the other pilot will know, and second, if it is done for more, tactical reasons, the target is aware that they are being hunted and he/she can take measures to better avoid the hunter and make for better gameplay.
It would also be good if a pilot has the option to cancel non-initiated linking. The original idea of linking was to enable players to temporally join the same "clan" for contracts, battle, explorations and the like. Whilst you can cancel links to a pilot that you have linked to, you can not cancel, or reject, a link initiated from another pilot if you do not want to be linked.
I have 2 suggestions. One is that linking works as it does now, but the non-initiating pilot can cancel it at any time via the trade menu for example, or the second is that linking needs to be started and approved via the trade menu like turret gunning is controlled.
Discuss.

All thou I'm not a clan member, I agree that the "target" of the link must approve and get notified that he is
going to be linked. Also to be able to cancel/reject linking.
going to be linked. Also to be able to cancel/reject linking.

Hmm, not much discussion here, but mention Newtonian Physics, then there is a plethora of information!!!!
So is the community happy to let this exploit continue? And will this post start an argument?
Answers on a post card please.

Clan Linking System Tweaks?
Dengar was not complaining. Simply asking a question. BA have no issue using this to our advantage as I stated at the start.

This was a simple attempt to start a discussion on a possible tweak to an already existing feature. Not for anybody to try and score points of each other. While I respect you, please don't assume that any and all posts that members of my clan make are frivolous and not worth grown up discussion.Originally posted by Bossk

Clan Linking System Tweaks?
Thank you for your comments Eclipse. I have, however, not called it an exploit. What Dengar says is his choice. This thread is not a clan thread, and his views, and words are his own, but I do agree that, although not an exploit itself, it can be used in a way not originally planned.
I know very well how the system works, and that it was designed in that way. If changes were to be made to it, it would in fact disadvantage BA pilots, and others, you included, who use it for as a tool for covertly tracking other players.
If this was suggested in Legends, then so be it. Just because a suggestion has been made once, and at the time deemed unnecessary, it does not close it down for any further, future discussion.
The few members who have commented on this topic have agreed that the current system could at least be looked at for a possible change. Please don't shut an idea down just because you don't agree. A member of my own clan has been accused of that recently.
I agree that if enough players think that changes need to be made then Vice will indeed look at it. But saying an idea is not worth discussion because you think that is the case is not helpful.

Clan Linking System Tweaks?
The clan linking works only for clans. For independant pilots with no clan tag it is of no use. There are more independant pilots than clans out there. Although an individual could use a clan tag to make temporarily use of the linking. Because of more individual pilots then clans I do not think the linking is a big issue or prefference for a lot of players.....
