Can we have the mod folder tree hang off of savedir.txt?
I'd like to keep the game installation folder as virgin as possible. To that end, I've used savedir.txt to keep saves and config files in a subfolder of my user profile. Putting mod files under the game's install path seems like it invites problems with overwriting or deleting the wrong stuff.
Having it part of the savedir.txt path (if the player uses this) allows mods to get read out of a safer folder. Would also eliminate any issues relating to admin rights to program files. Just trying to get some best practices implemented. One day I'll ask for savedir.txt and all those other little txt configuration files moved into a single txt or ini or cfg file someplace in %userprofile% or %localappdata%. But for now, in advance of the release of the customization kit, I'd really like to see mod folders be subfolders under savedir.txt, or a similar implementation.

Mod File Paths
No plans to do that yet. A number of players want to keep their save files separate from game files, mods generally being game media files and consuming a lot of space compared to save data files. A problem of overwriting/deleting wrong stuff (ie other mods) exists with either folder. Mod files also generally use dedicated folders and just need to be read, so they can be placed with the core game files without overwriting something critical (just need to be aware of any existing mod files regardless of where they are placed).

Hopefully one day you'll have a chance to architect a solution that keeps things that change or are otherwise different from a vanilla install, separate from the vanilla install. Even if it means yet another option.txt, as in moddir.txt or something. Thanks for the response.
