I want to start this by saying the game looks awesome. Love the planet landings and the storms!. This is easy to get hooked on.
I do have some questions though. Graphically this game is outstanding, I have however, found that within a very short amount of time you can aquire the high end hull/equipment only in a few hours of game play... Unless there is a ton of hidden stuff not shown when you go to the hangers to buy ship components.
After only a few hours of play (I play as a miner/ trader) I have the mammoth hull, maxed out cargo, Plat mining lasers and other high end equipment.
I also totally suck at combat at this point being new, so I hiried a few escorts who seem to be more interested in flying around aimlessly instead of obeying the "Protect me" and "Attack hostiles" commands. While they did an excellent job of keeping them selves alive, by flying the enemy in circles, they failed to kill anything..
At one point i attempted to order them to mine.. however in the time it took me to fill my 5 cargo slots with plat they averaged about $1,000 credits each earned while mining. This feature seems broken or gliched?
Another thing that can get frustrating is you don't have a display of your wingmens ship/hull/status.. Once you hire them they maintain their generic names and the color's of their names stay the same color.. Hard to tell if your guys are even alive. Is there a hotkey i can hit to show me who is still working for me? Since it only lists your officers on your crew list. Something with wingmen status on the hud would be awesome!
If a patch is ever put out maybe a delay in progression would be nice.. Jack the price way up on hull's.. There are missiles that cost more than ship hulls.. I just saw an excalibur missile that costs 4 mill... my Mammoth didn't cost me that much!
Also why do crew members with %80+ Loyalty bail on you so easily? I have been paying them well over the norm amount.. The only officer that sticks around is my science officer.

Some Questions
LOL...not every player can achieve what you achieved in a couple of hours. Some of it might be luck, some of it smarts and some of it thinking out of the box. The average player will not be able to achieve what you achieved in a couple of hours unless they are lucky from the start and know what they are doing and how to do it. In the beginning hired ships are acting at the same level as you are a newbie with not many upgrades weak weapons and terified of combat....LOL...
And concerning minning in a nother post Vice explained that you only get a small percentage of the proceeds of what the escort ships mine when ordered to do so. So the 1000 credits is just a percentage of what they actually made......
I have not done much with hiring escorts. But I think there is in one of the consoles a list of the recruited ships some where in the news console I believe....some one else has to answer this one.
Concerning delay in progression imho is not nescesarry in this game....for the average person I think it is balanced enough depending on the roll and goals each individual sets out to achieve.....
If you pay them to much they take your money and run even with 80% with lousy skills because they can not get the job done so out of fustration they take your high paid credits and go buy liquer or drugs and leave. Pay them to little is obvious why they leave. Some other people have posted some usefull tips about how to keep your crew till they are at 100% so they will not leave....LOL...
