Key Bindings
So, I'm trying to rebind the throttle presets to 0-20-40-60-80-100% thrust for keys 1-2-3-4-5-6, respectively. How would I go about doing this? I know they are mappable b/c I already switched out 7 through 0 for other things (merc stealth keyboard has a redesigned WASD setup on the left side, trying to be efficient). Either I'm blind or they are not in configure controls...

Driven,
Are you using an X52? In any event you should be able to use the joystick axis setup within the options to set the throttle no problem. There are others on this forum who will expalin that so much better that I. Late night late night blowing up Mccon, SeeJay and old MuchTalk!!!

Nope, I'm using keyboard and mouse (got an old sidewinder 2 from years ago playing xwing alliance priv 2 etc, but after FPS gaming for like the last 5 years I realized I'm 10x better at flying with a mouse). The newtonian flight model seems to make a joystick and mouse pretty much even in my book, believe me I was surprised when i was demoing legends switching between the two and discovering the mouse was pretty handy(the only issue being throttle control:D).Originally posted by Dengar

I was actually debating posting asking other mouse pilots what their basic tactics are, just to see what others are coming up with.

I guess I'm waiting for Vice to see this post and perform magic, but until then i've got an idea, but i need a little help.
by using the key scancode thats listed in the readme, I think i've identified my profile's keymap as keymap8.sw
opened it in notepad and i believe that the format begins with a listing of each control key scancode as it appears listed on the configure control menu (ie since the first key on the config controls menu is yaw right, the first line of the file states 205, the scancode for right arrowkey)
simple enough, eh?
but then once it ends the configured controls the entries begin looking like "0 , -1" "0" "0 , 2" <--(this one i'm guessing is where the placeholder for 10% throttle is, and subsequently all the other throttle settings are buried here somewhere) etc to name a few examples. I believe "0" means no keybind in this format but idk, I'm an engineering student not a programmer
. Which is why i need help heh
any advice?
PS- Vice your game is awesome, enjoy your release day.

really? I could have sworn that I saw a post ~month ago that stated it will be possible in mercenaries to change the throttle keys, I guess I read that wrong...Originally posted by Eclipse
You can not map the throttle percentages to other keys. You can restore the default keys by removing them from your altered bindings.
I see that you posted right after I had, so idk if you were responding to my post 2 hours ago or the one a minute before yours, do you think there's merit to my thought process?

ok, i know bumping is not the kindest thing to do on a forum, i apologize, but I guess i can't seem to get my head around the fact that a keyset that is assignable from cannot be assigned to...
It seems to me with my limited programming knowledge that its probably something really simple that either I can do in the keymap file or less likely in the code somewhere idk. I've been fidgeting with the keymap file but i need a point in the right direction
I fully understand that Vice is busy squashing bigger bugs, but if he wants a code battle that can be easily won, here it is
