Hi all,
I was wondering, for the Beacon Quest, if the beacon messages are saved somewhere so I can look at them later. It's kind of annoying to have to write the messages down so that I remember where to go next. If this feature is not implemented currently I think it would be nice to have in the future.
Thanks!

That's exactly what the map log is for. And it even saves the location of the beacon for you in case you want it for future reference.

Ah... I thought that the map log just saved locations. So if I add the beacon to the map log it will also save the message? Thanks, sorry for the confusion.

No, but you can type in a reminder message that is linked to the location. So next time you view the map log, you will see your reminder message on where to go and/or what you need to do to complete the next task along with the location of the beacon. Whether or not the information is saved to the map log (and how) is up to the player.

That's a great technique also. A quick way to minimize the game is to use the Windows-D key combination, which drops everything to the taskbar so you can access your desktop/start menu.

When I use the Windows and D Key to access my Desktop and after using my desktop to acces and for browsing my evochron files and then returning to the game the Graphics seems to be all messed up with little colored and dotted squares all over objects and Nav Map. And it only goes away when I exit the game and restart the Game!Originally posted by Vice

I did the windows D key thing today in MP. When I came back the Ship identification box (third to the right) would only show the distance to a ship and nothing else. I had to exit out of MP and when I returned all was well.

Really depends on your video card. Some cards can drop the game and pick it up again, others can't.

Two factors there. As Rami points out, some video cards are better at managing alt-tabbing/Windows-D better than others. Some video cards lose what they carry in video memory, resulting is either white or discolored objects. The other factor is whether you are using the 'Optimized (WM)' screen mode or the 'Locked (FS)' screen mode. Locked utilizes a full screen mode, which is less friendly with alt-tabbing. If you want the option to alt-tab and your video card supports it, always stick with the 'Optimized' modes. Full screen modes are red for a reason and exist largely just to provide test options for possible performance and/or compatibility improvements on some (typically older) configurations. When I use the Windows and D Key to access my Desktop and after using my desktop to acces and for browsing my evochron files and then returning to the game the Graphics seems to be all messed up with little colored and dotted squares all over objects and Nav Map. Thanks tha_rami and Vice, I'll play around with the settings and see if I can get some configuration that will work!;)
