2nd ship?

Post by Booyaah »

Hi,

I've only been playing this game for a day now. I chose Combat Pilot but I wanted to try out mining. I figured it would be better to use a civilian ship. Is this possible? How do it if so? I'm still trying to learn these ship mechanics.

Hi Booyaah, welcome to the game and forum! You can switch to a Civilian ship any time you have enough credits to do so! You can try out mining also in a military craft, but you have to get your rank up so you can get the higher class fighter that has 1 Cargo bay and then you need a mining beam installed!......You need at least 1 empty cargo bay and a mining beam to mine! You can also store one ship in a Hangar bay and buy another if you have enough credits to do so, you will have to pay a storage fee every so often per cycle!.......;)

2nd ship?

Hello Booyah! Welcome to the game/sim and Evoverse forum/community. What Marrs said is basically true. One may switch from mil frame to civ frame in a trade station shipyard, or constructor station shipyard. Be prepared for something different, cash-wise, as mil frames are so much less thrifty than civ frames. ;)

@ Maars: All of the military frames have one cargo bay by design, rank not withstanding. It's solely the secondary weapons slot allocations that are limited by the lower ranks. At least as "things" stand right now. The Ferret and Aries frames carry 4 secondary weapons slots. IIRC, the Shadow is the first mil frame with the 8 & 8 slot combo, equipment plus missiles. This one unlocks at Lieutenant Junior Grade. :)

2nd ship?

Okay from what you're saying, you don't actually get a physical 2nd ship but you slap a civil frame onto the base hull and it essentially converts it?

I still don't understand the actual mechanics of it. The shipyard window says 'trade and build', does that mean I would lose my mil frame and it gets replaced with the civ frame and I get a credit difference?

I don't understand how you store a frame in the hangar...when I go to the hangar I try to hit the top store button it says 'you do not have enough money to build this ship'. The fee says only 41k but I have 800k.

Yes, the drag-and-drop feature will actually/effectively convert your mil ship to a civ ship-of-your-choice. Yes, you will "lose" the mil frame in the conversion process. And most often, gain a substantial credit boost. Storing a ship in the hangar should be a seamless process as well. It has worked many times in my experience. I've generally been "moved" to the trade station's shipyard, and have crafted another ship to replace the one that I'd just placed in storage. You may be experiencing a "glitch"; not sure.

The fee is for the storage. Basically, you're buying insurance against thievery, on the "installment plan". And, the storage fee will be withdrawn from your account, once each cycle, for as long as you have any items in hangar storage, any where. The fee usually starts low and then escalates over time as your rank, status, and earnings increase. It's also directly proportional/relational to the number of hangar storage locations you may have at a given time.

What it is saying is you do not have enough to build your second ship when placing the current one in storage in hangar. You need to have enough credits to build the second ship with the features you want, besides the storage fee. Also I think there is a minimum credit requirement needed to cover the storage fee In case you do not have enough credits to cover a certain amount of payment cycles!.....;)
