I wasn't sure where to post this, but it isn't an urgent technical problem, so I'll post it here instead of the tech support subforum.
I'm thinking about dropping some cash for a CH Products Pro Throttle USB for left-handed control goodness. With a throttle connected, will the max and min positions correspond to the max and min set by the IDS multiplier (and thus change as the multiplier is changed)? Or will the game only recognize the first few throttle notches when the multiplier is low, rendering a portion of the device's throw dead?
Incidentally, what do CH Pro Throttle users think? It seems like the one to buy to me. Any downsides?

IDS multiplier and hardware throttle devices
Bro I own the CH pro throttle as well my buddy and fellow pilot Flash and I absolutely love it. Now I I don't use it for IDS multiplier though, I use the throttle axis for up/down strafe thrusters. IDS multiplier I typically don't assign, my only gripe is that the up and down motion of the throttle slides too easily and doesn't have a sense of weight reistance found in other HOTAS controllers in the market such as the warthog or x65 throttle. Other than that, its a great throttle with plenty of buttons and pairs well with a CH fighterstick or combatstick which I have and the pedals. You have just the throttle or the full CH HOTAS? Flash, perhaps you can better explain the IDS part bro. From post: 147405, Topic: tid=9926, author=DynamicRanger wrote:I wasn't sure where to post this, but it isn't an urgent technical problem, so I'll post it here instead of the tech support subforum.

Right now I'm using a CH USB Combatstick paired with a cheap MS IntelliMouse Optical for left-hand view and menu controls, KB for strafe, targeting and miscellaneous commands. The CH joystick is ridiculous; gently used on amazon for $50 and easily the best value per dollar I've spent on any computer part.
If I did get the Pro Throttle, I wouldn't use the throttle axis to control the speed limit in IDS; I'm just wondering if the throttle axis goes from 0 to 558 in x1 mode, 0 to 1116 in x2 mode, etc., or if it always is set to the full thrust range of a given engine, in which case at x1 or x2, a lot of the range of the axis would be beyond the max. If the throttle doesn't scale with the multiplier, then it would be a pain in the butt.
Also, with your throttle, do you have any slippage problems? Should I look into velcro tape or something like that?

It definitely slips for me lol, I use velcro to fasten it down, happy to hear you use a combatstick as well, best joystick I've ever used. Flash uses the fighterstick hotas setup.

For a while I was using a Logitech 3D Extreme Pro I borrowed from a friend, but I couldn't get the hang of the twist axis. Actually using the rotation to control a game hurts my wrist a lot, and even if I disable the twist axis in a game, the fact that the stick slips around really throws me off.
I considered a Fighterstick, but the deal I got for the Combatstick was too good to pass up. After using it for a while, I think it's perfect for me; just the right number of buttons and hat switches. I really like having a big, solid thumb button for launching missiles, too.

Ya I like the extra push buttons on the combatstick rather than the switch buttons on the fighterstick plus it was cheaper lol. Overall solid stick with the best precision and durability CH is known for.

To answer your question, the Throttle Axis, when configured to control Thrust, will apply 0 - 100% thrust directly related to the specified IDS, your speed at max throttle will only increase if/when you designate (step up) the IDS, which is controlled separately. So, for example, IDS = 3 (800), maximum thrust at 100% throttle (full forward) will be 800. IDS > 4 (1200), maximum thrust at 100% throttle (full forward) will be 1200...
