Lost Player Built Station Licenses

Post by PilotX »

Twice now I've lost my built station license. Seems to happen if I leave the system before an overall reputation change? I'm not sure. I do know that it has happened twice, which is kind of frustrating. Are there mechanisms in place that may cause a license to be lost due to reputation or leaving the system? (Note: I save OFTEN, but only to one profile)

I'll do some more experimenting to see if I can't come up with reproduction steps. Kind of upset, but I'll invest a bit of time, repurchase the license and see what happens.

Arrrgggh.

Hi.

Did you really buy a license? Or did you pay docking fee?

If you have a license, the only way to loose it is if you cancel it yourself or that the
station is destroued. (Player build stations).

Genuinely built and did not cancel the license. Built the station in Pearl. After coming back from Cerulean(sp?), I had lost the license for the station. At no point did I cancel the license itself.

I'm really confused to be sure. From what I can tell, this isn't suppose to happen. I'm 99.9% sure I didn't cancel the license.

I'm in the process of saving up the credits to repurchase it. I have a theory that what I'm experiencing may be a bug related to reputation and/or leaving the system for some length of time. After I purchase, I'll test this out.

I also recall that I left the game in another system, too, but I don't know if this would have any bearing on the license itself.

Is it possible that I have the license in the game save, but it's not necessarily loading up with the station that I have it?

Did you build in MP or SP?
(What you build in SP / MP is separate. MP stations are saved server side, not in your profile.)

If, MP, are you on the same server that you build on?

Very strange. I have never lost a license in any way.
You can always send your profile to Vice for investigation.

100% SP. I realize that the stations and certain persistent data will separated by the different playmodes.

I wish this were the case. This makes the second player built "builder's" license that I've lost. To note, I haven't lost any licenses that I've purchased from the "stock" stations. So that makes it even more curious.

Seems like I lose the license when I go to another system (e.g. Talison -> Sapphire) and build there after building the station in the previous system. So for instance, I build a station in Talison, then travel and build say, a research station in Sapphire near one of the trade stations. This sems to result in the loss of license back at the player built station.

I'll do some more testing to rule out all variables and provide a more detailed bug report as soon as I can.

 To confirm: You use quick-save to save to the same profile? Every time?

Happened again...

The license seems to be lost when I've been out of the system too long (thinking a rep reset logic munge?). This is completely annoying. I'm going to see if this affects purchased licenses as well, or just the initial player built license.

I'd love to hook in a debugger to figure out what's causing this. It's definitely a time based logic condition that's doing it, irrespective if you build anything outside the system or not (this was correlation and definitely no linked based on this new datum).

:o It might be a new bug that's somehow found its way into the game. It wasn't there when I was worried about licenses ... which, once you make Legend, is moot. Sounds like you need to build a station, check that you have the license, save the game, check again to make sure you still have the license, exit the game, drag a copy of the profile to desktop, go back into the game, check again ... then do whatever it is you do to lose the license. Then save again, drag a copy of that profile to desktop then save both copies (of the same profile ... one with and one without the license) and send them to Vice.

Will do.

When you mean legend, do you mean the civ rank, or the military rank? I'm assuming the former?

 Right. The corresponding military rank would be Fleet Admiral.
