Newbie help on waypoints!

So I followed the Mercenary guide, accepted the mission, and so on. Everything I've read tells me to simply put on autopilot, and everything will be taken care for you, so I go ahead and do this. Unfortunately, this doesn't do anything for me except bring me to my last nav point. Frustrated, I look up more information saying that my waypoint should be yellow, and is s where the ship I need to find is... But the thing is, I have about 10 yellow target icons... I'm frustrated and lost. Can someone please explain how I target my objective and find it?

You can activate the autopilot, but you don't have to and it's generally more efficient to just jump to the contract waypoint (where the ship you need to interact with for the contract is generally waiting directly at the waypoint). To me, it sounds like you might either not be accepting the contract (which automatically places the nav point at the contract waypoint for you) or you're accepting it, but then later moving it to a different location away from the waypoint. The key will be to follow the waypoint indicator (green) or nav indicator (yellow) if placed at the waypoint. Then just watch for the ship with the indicator pointing to it (and for delivery contracts, a large green drop zone will also be directly below the ship).
