Hello, In short I am in LOVE with this game. I have played Discovery Freelancer for years on and off and I love Roleplay. I am really excited to get into this game as I can't play FL anymore now that I know this exists... It's actually sad that people aren't flooding this game with servers and players. But anyways back onto the point of the post.

I am wondering if there is anyway the Dev Team can make the Maximum Players higher? I mean 35 is great, But 100 would be amazing. Or even 200! (You get my point)

I understand if this is impossible at this time BUT it would make my new server I am looking into hosting (Roleplay since nobody in the community has one up from the looks) A lot better. (Any server it would enhance) I mean from the little bit I have played, The servers are pretty bare with just 5 people. 30 more and I really don't see that much of a difference.

Anyways just some advice. I am looking forward to the walkers in the expansion! (Vice) I suppose your name is? You are an amazing person and I think I would have your babies... If a guy could have another guys babies! :)

A role-play server is one where role-play is mandatory. There are some that have "relaxed Role-Play" (it is encouraged, but not required). But the gist is any action must be supported by the role you've chosen to play. Most role-play servers (at least in Freelancer Discovery) require an engagement notice to be given before opening fire on someone.

If a person is destroyed in a system, they must leave the system for s set time. Some are 4 hours, some are quite a bit less, and some have a provision that the victor can waive the leave system rule.

There's usually detailed rules. While the idea is good in principle, i'm not sure it would work in Evochron Mercenary.

Janus is very much correct for Freelancer Discovery rules, However I have a team of guys working on rules to match the idea we want to bring to life.

For instance we are against the "Engagement Notice", myself and my team cannot figure out why or when this would be used for a Pirate to message someone before destroying them. (Unless you are demanding credits for their life)

Then there are rules we are throwing around where your actual "Pilot" won't be allowed to play for 4 hours instead of just making him leave the sector. I do know for a fact though the we will utitilize the in-game VoIP to our advantage and allow people to RP their characters using it. Then for OORP (Out Of Roleplay) you can use some sort of / signal in chat.

We will of course have all of this information on our website which is currently being built, And much more. I am also pretty sure we have agreed on (Forum RP) for constant updates on Global Faction RP. And one day in theory I would love to have a news system where "Reporters" can post up videos/news about the RP Activity on the website.

:cool: That kind'a sounds workable. I'd suggest for OOC, you use a star system off the beaten path (EM is, after all, one giagantic sandbox ... or "map" which allows you to go wherever you like without the use of "transitioning" jumpgates). A dedicated server would be necessary, though, if you intend to enforce rules like the one where a dead pilot is banned from logging back in for a specified period of time.

I see the makings of another Remula1 with this roleplay server, this will bring back the glory days.:) I'd like to see that 35 max player count go further.

:cool: First we need to see if the RP server can attract 35 players on a regular basis. If it does, IM will need to play a dual role ... as "harmless" merchants on G1 and a more active role in RP. Maybe as Texas Rangers ... with the addition of terrain walkers, we could be Walkers, Texas Rangers.

You would have 35 people but no server can hold that many.
Secondly nine people in sector issue which stops people from getting into a sector.
This is a great game but it has many server limitations that have to be and will be addressed in time.
The more people that are on one server also effects ping and continous disconnects.
Again I love this fantastic game but these are the real issues that deters people from playing.

I understand about limitations but Freelancer didn't have player built bases when it was released by Microsoft did it? The modders put in the work to fix the game to an RP level. I am not saying today or tomorrow this game will be fully capable of doing everything that we need. But I am willing to work with the community in my server as well as Vice to make the game more accessible. To be honest with you there are limits, But those are just blockades that try and stop A great game from being what people want it to be. All we have to do is work together as a community of gamers and come to a fix or conclusion to what is needed. I am willing to spend my own time building an RP community not for me, But for the community. I want my server to be something special. I have no problems saying that every server has a right to be there, But I don't just want to be a "server" that isn't played on. I feel RP can make this game grow in people as well as in sales. And I am sure if Vice gets people from me doing this server he wouldn't have any qualms about finding a way to increase the limit, Or making the sectors allow more people.

But even if this doesn't get anywhere, It seems to me that a good portion of the EM players are interested. So all I can say is this won't be everyone's cup of tea but at least give it a try. Because I am here for the long haul, As long as 1 person here is interested in playing in an RP server (and I didn't see one here when I got the game) my server will be here for them.

Just a note Freelancer has been going strong for what 12 years? And like 6 years ago is when Microsoft pulled the plug! The modders did that! We have the original developer here! We can make this thing big!

Actually you can set the players per sector to no limit. It doesn't come that way by default, but there is a provision for it.
