So just today I got myself one of these things and have been trying to set it up with as many games as possible, and in the configuration it asks me to set turning left/right to one axis and throttle to a different axis. Ideally in any flight sim you would have them both on the same two axes, so that when you move both forward or both backward you will accelerate and decelerate, but when you move the left one forward and the right one backward you will turn to the right and vice verse for left. I'm sure you know what I mean.
Kind of fundamental, but I can't really see a way to set that up in evochron mercenary.

The ship already has directional boosters for turning, etc.. Due to physics that method of turning would not work in space.

That method of turning would work in space, but you would turn around the center of the mass of the ship just like the turning left and turning right buttons.
Evochron Mercenary does not allow you to use double throtle(Double Engines) The output of the Forward thrust engine is one Axis in Game, you have only one forward Engine!

The space shuttle utilizes both fore and aft RCS jets in order to perform yaw maneuvers. I believe that they would use only the OMS engines to turn if uneven thrust from the aft engines was effective. They use the OMS engines and rudder for yaw control during re-entry. I note that if only one engine is used during an OMS burn that RCS thrusters are required for ROLL control. That is according to NASA, though these days they seem more interested in climate science than rocket science, so ymmv. Please do correct any errors as I do not want to give bad info.
