Let's list some of the small details that you appreciate. Maybe something that aids immersion, or some aspect of the interface you couldn't possibly live without.

I have loads, but to begin with, I have to say that I love the sound and ship-rocking effect of blowing up an asteroid. The sound effect is perfect and the way you always lose orientation a little...it just feels like you're blowing up a massive rock in space, metres from your ship.

 Cockpits. Especially since the default cockpit can be changed by some very capable modders. And, of course, both a seamless universe and the seamless transition (no cut scenes) between planets and outer space.

I like the landing lights that blink when you get close to a dock. They look great in the fog of a nebula.

The rain falling on your cockpit during the landing on a city. Especially the bad weather.

(Oh look, a forum! /register)

I really like the way jump gates work.
I often target one while aimed correctly,
then Z -3500 so the next jump starts as soon as the first gets there,
I don't even see space, just one long moment of TUNNEL VISION O_O

Also I love how this little 100/100 is an arse.
I happen to have a phobia of not being able to see large areas.
Whenever I jump to a targeted planet,
Navigator here likes to edit my exits so I ALWAYS come out staring at a black wall.
That, nebulas, gas giants, clouds,
they all creep me out but I face them in Evo/Merc every few minutes! :P

Cockpit movement when you turn, and the shudder when you use afterburners.

The glow effect on the asteroids before they pop.

Modability (if that is a word).

That's a great effect!

Another one I like is the slightly muted, echoing voice of the computer as if you're hearing it in a helmet. Stuff like this makes me feel like I'm the actual pilot in the ship, rather than the ship itself.

There are few things I find more epic then drifting in space to some random destination, listening to some atmospheric music, like vangelis, and seeing ships jumping in and out around me.

It gives me sence of life in the universe, and the sence of coolness beeing a space mercenary :D

just watching the star field and nebulae behind a planet as ships jump in and out of local space whilst listening to flight control talking to ships docking and undocking at the local station. ;)

The little shield readout in the console display and being able to look around in the cockpit perspective, as if you were actually in the pilot seat. It's just a couple little touches that I appreciate and adds to the deep sense of immersion I get each Evochron session.

That Vice has a genuine love for the game he has created, not only as a developer but as a fan of the genre. It makes a difference in the end product.

Yeh - I think it's really cool the way they keep changing colour and turn red, but are back to green again when I reload! :D

I would have to say the cloud effects when you're entering or exiting a planet's atmosphere. and the way the sky changes from space, to a blue sky (on certain planets) on the day/night sides.

Aligning myself to heading 0 and pitch 0, targeting a black hole,
offsetting X to +2000, launching,
exploding and finding out the black hole doesn't have a wormhole in it!

The ability to bring fellow pilots fuel if needed.

Well, it is the Z coordinate you should be altering...

I've been working on my military rank in Talison's Warzone and noticed that there's matter caught in the star's gravity. The graphical effect is really cool and something to look at as I gather fuel for my ship.
