Nav Map has no icons

Post by Greye »

Ive been playing for several days with no problem. Today, the nav map icons have disappeared at full zoom. They are still visible when I zoom the map out, but when I zoom in to click on a station, there is just a blank field.

Did I tweak a setting by accident?

Nope, you're probably just above or below the icons by a sector or two. So when you zoom in on your current SY 'level', the icons aren't there because they are above or below you vertically. Click on 'Rear View' to view the map from behind to see how far above or below those objects you are.

This happens to us all (or most of us :D)so don't worry. With practice you will be able to find things anytime you want. Welcome to the forum and the Sim. Have fun and hope to see you in "Multi-Player" sometime. :)

When you open the nav map screen have a look at your sY position in the location coordinate table (top of screen left hand side). If you are not at sY=0 then the advice for switching views is what you need.

You could left click on the sector you want to get to and manually edit the sY coord in the destination "table" (top of the screen, right hand side) to Y=0; jump to the secotr and you should see everything you want.

As thetiebiers said, it's happened to all of us - and it took me quite a while of getting the hang of naving in 3D! :P:P

I've not had the icons disappear but I have had a lot of trouble with the "Highlight" function in the nav map. Unless I am fully zoomed, the mouse-over highlight function doesn't work, so I have to turn on one of the other text options.. in some sectors it gets very cluttered and hard to see what is what.. is this the way it is supposed to work? Or is the highlight function supposed to work at all zooms?

Highlight will only work at maximum zoom, so you'll want to right click on the sector you want to highlight objects in first. When using the text mode, you can select different categories to remove others for better legibility.

Ahh ok, thanks. I've read another post, after posting this, that Sapphire system is the main system that I will have trouble with this "clutter"..

I just wasn't sure if there was some option I had accidentally turned off or something like that. :)

 Also, I've found that cursor-over highlighting sometimes doesn't work unless the labels are turned off completely.
