Hi,
So I have been playing for about 5-6 hours. I've done some mining, some trading, a little exploring, and killed about 20 enemy ships in various actions. I've also done about the first 7-8 quest missions.
I have about 5.5 million credits, and a civilian framed ship (about the 4th up from the smallest.
I read a hint/cheat idea about how to make a great deal of money in the Pearl system, trading between Port Oasis and the hidden planet. This sounded like a good idea so off I went.
Only when I reached Port Oasis there must have been close to 15 enemy ships cruising around the station. Even if I was able to dock I would still get blown up, making it impossible to load up and get out of there.
Am I doing some wrong? Is there a way to safely dock and leave without getting into a clusterf**k with all these enemy ships?
Thanks.
Lots of credits, lots of problems?

Thanks. That seems to make sense. So, basically let them see you and chase you, and when you get far enough away from the station try to jump in real close, dock, get all your transactions done asap, and then jump out.
Is that about right?

Set your pitch to 0 so your nose is not pointing up or down. Right click on the station on the navigation map (or recall a saved point). This should bring you back just outside the station. The same thing can be done with gates by setting the compass to 0 or 180 deg, and by carriers by setting it to 180 deg.
PS: The station at the start location 0,0,0 does not follow this (and some player made stations could also) for this station type in 1500 to the hight after right clicking the station on the map to make it work.

If there is no-one closer than 3000 - 4000 you can jump in, buy what you want, and jump out before anyone gets close enough to actually attack you - just takes a bit of nerve.
Also look at what the hostiles are - transports and other capital ships don't attack unless you get very close to them.
It adds to your heart beat rate but does work

Best bang for the Buck? Buy a station license, you pick where in Pearl. Defense from the bad guys, and 25% off retail to boot! U betcha! Then work your trades. Then check your burse after a few trips. Don't forget the major hostilities near-by. They may be reaped and sown as desired. Think "military appliances".

Remember though to buy the license where you want to buy, not where you want to sell - the 25% discount includes selling as well! (I suppose it stops you just sitting there buying and then immediately selling back at a profit!

Great ideas everyone. Can't wait to try some of these strategies out when I get back to my gaming rig at the end of the week.
I really really am getting a bad jones for this game. It may end up taking over my life
