You have a mission in the Sierra system... Do i have to??

Post by Kilgore »

Greetings semi-noob here, been playing for about a month now, mining the diamonds and platinums to buy my current guardian hull with all the latest shields and gizmos, i thought i was as tough as old boots with 157 kills scratched into the side of my fuselage... Until i received my next IMG mission to enter the sierra system. Good gravy i knew it was hostile but i didnt expect this. I tried flying thru the station on a grab and dash to get the mission, barely escaped, only to find that the mission has 8 enemies with backup constantly popping up. Whew and i thought the Kilrathi were relentless.. so i guess my question is if i do manage to pass this mission will this system stop with the hate? If not how much would i have to do to up my reputation a bit?

 Without docking at a station you can check your reputation (both global and with each faction) using F1 (Nav Map) and F3 (News). Eight enemy ships usually means the system is Moderate ... requiring you to do plenty of contracts for Navy, Miners and those other guys who, thanks to a Yoda moment, I can't recall. But take heart: if the contract is for eight ... you can ignore all the others.

Welcome to the (lol) killing zone.:D Once you have a few hundred more kills under your belt you may be saying "Bring it ON!!";) Each system has its own starting Reputation level so do lots of missions for the factions you want to improve on when you have the time. Don't be in a hurry though as it takes quite a few missions for things to change and stay that way.:)

Sierra is a very hostile system and reinforcements are usually close by once they spot you. It's not a system I would recommend going through the effort of changing your reputation in (due primarily to market conditions/trade options). The best way to handle contracts in that system is simply being ready for it, both with your ship configuration and combat abilities. The faster you can destroy required targets, the less time they will have to send in reinforcements. So focus on weapons that do the most damage in the shortest amount of time. Try to avoid letting them bait you into becoming a central target in the middle of the hunting pack and try to pick off targets one at a time. If you're having trouble keeping up with the firefight, fly away from the engagement for a bit and try to restart attacking individual targets one at a time (focusing on the faster moving targets that break away from the pack to follow you). In the future, you can travel through the system at high speed or use a stealth device to keep yourself safe and avoid combat entirely if you want to.

 As for the IMG contract, jump onto any "inhabited" MP server ... most pilots love to assist with IMG contracts. Sometimes, they even get carried away and do all the work for you.
