That's exactly what I'm doing. I entered the coordinates to Sol, hit autopilot, and when my ship set itself to the right direction, I shut off autopilot and then just gunned my afterburner to 7000 and placed the ship in inertial, that way I'm not wasting fuel. A few hours from last night, and 4 hours and counting today, it feels like I'm going nowhere. Hopefully when I arrive, it'll be worth the experience and wait. Plus there is a book I've been meaning to catch up on...so there is always that. Still would like to know the estimated time it took most people. From post: 130473, Topic: tid=8868, author=Marvin wrote:Few pilots (if any) try getting to Sol via inertial. The standard way is to depart from Sirius, set your destination coordinates in the proper windows (top right side of nav map), engage autopilot ... then engage inertial (after you're heading in the correct direction).

Sorry didn't see this post. I'll have to check that out. From post: 130461, Topic: tid=8868, author=Maarschalk wrote:There is a thread in the newbie thread that explains about distances and speed. So all you have to do is measure the Distance and you can calculate how long it will take to get there from your current position and speed!.....From post: 130437, Topic: tid=8868, author=spiritgod wrote:Not to get off topic are anything, but I've set my ship to inertial running at 7019. I spent most of last night just heading toward Sol from Sirius, and woke up this morning to do the same thing. I gave up on building trade stations since I'm not completely out of money but am being more cautious. I wasn't expecting a 20 minute ride but I'm into the hours now. How long does it take to reach Sol?

Thanks, I guess I didn't allow my energy to refill before noticing that I'd eventually jump. This should save me some time, and effort. I don't know what I would do without these boards! From post: 130492, Topic: tid=8868, author=Marvin wrote:Don't shut off autopilot. It's what forces your ship into continuous hyper-jumps ... with minimum recharge time in between. Inertial simply keeps you from wasting fuel by slowing down between jumps.

Interesting, thank you Marvin. Yes, this sounds like something that might be worth testing in MP...or did you already experiment with this?...From post: 130477, Topic: tid=8868, author=Marvin wrote:From post: 130405, Topic: tid=8868, author=Flying Brick wrote:...please clarify what you mean by "defined area of space" ?The star systems are scattered in a more-or-less random fashion across the galaxy. But, experience indicates that the border which determines the 50-station limit isn't co-located within the individual star systems. More likely, it's simply a geometric grid pattern, laid atop the Evoverse. Consequently, if a star system stradles two or more grids, then it might be possible to build more than fifty stations. The question then becomes: How does this affect territorial percentages?
