Hey!

Noticed that SeeJay, Maarschalk and DaveK have scouted and mapped much of evochron, and I was wondering if you guys found any systems/objects of interest farther than the normal bounds of space?

Looking at SeeJay's map and seeing so many empty quadrants makes me feel like there's a lot more haha (or so I hope!)

If there is any benefit to exploring Andromeda or other distant locations, I'd love to know :D

Of course you people love your secrets so I may have to go find out for myself :P

 If you're looking to find a star system not on MapMan's list, you'll need to search high and low. Or in Andromeda ... and I strongly suggest taking Atollski's program along for the ride. But, if you're simply looking to lay claim to a system already discovered (located out in the boondocks), you can probably find quite a few ... considering all the new servers available.

To be honest I don't think there is much in the way of star systems out there beyond the evochron quadrant.
There is wolfzone, vonari and Andromeda but I doubt there is much else.

All the action is closer inside towards 0,0,0.
The best thing is do what I do and don't look at that map, then every discovery is a new one! : )
There are star systems and things to discover but I doubt there is very much that isn't
already on that map.
There are probably other things containers and such that arent already mapped though.

And if you going to ask me how would I know whats already mapped if i didn't look at it.
I can tell you I did often refer back to the map in the early days when it had just started.
I would check to see if it what I found had already been discovered by others.
It was at this time also that I decided to keep my own discoveries to myself.

 Yes. Gorf, for one. But, about what's beyond the mapped star systems ... try heading east-northeast out of Talison Conflict. Or maybe a little east-southeast (but, then, that doesn't count as "beyond" now, does it). Edit: 080 degrees for about 867 sectors (87 jumps with a Mantis drive) or 096 degrees for about 184 sectors.

I set up a system as a trade system on USS (sigh!) and it has three (valuable) containers so there is a lot to find even in already discovered "uncharted systems"

There are 5 or so asteroid caves, each with it's own secrets and goodies; one is a real challenge to inter because it is so close to a star!

I have it on good authority that there is little changing much beyond 30K sectors out Certainly there was no real change between sX=30K and sX=250K :D

:)

Is that C766?

The X/Y/Z coordinates for the star appear to be wrong; they're listed as [0,0,0], should be [-41500,44320,-25740].

Planet Z201 appears to be wrong too; though I've yet to find it's correct position.

:edit:

Planet Z201(E) -> Sector [901,-2,2689], in-sector [5270,11310,27000].

Hi TJJ.

If you refer to my DB, some of the reported coords that I recieved missed the position coords.
That's why it's listed as 0.0.0 (I have verified most systems but not all).

If you have any corrections, please send them to me and I'll update the DB.

Just the other day I was just emptying my fuel tank heading in a random direction (can't even remember from which system I left) when I decided to get a coffee. While I accidentally passed my monitor, I noticed that I whooooshed right by a couple of containers in between jumps. I canceled auto pilot as quickly as I could and tried to head back a bit to find them again, but failed.
If I had found them again, I had probably built a trade station there to make me a nice trade run.

Goes to show that you never know what you might find out in space. ;)

When the game first came out Vice said that there was a surprise somewhere - equipment, ship, drive! As far as I know, no-one has reported finding it.
