Sublimed Alien UFO?

So there I was mining asteroids in Saphire, humming a little tune to the beat of the beam. I turn the ship around and find myself looking at a perfectly white globe watching me mine.

Whoa!

So I nose around it for a while hoping it will present me with untold riches rather than devour me.

It was 43 meters in diameter and when I was inside of it everything was pearly white.

Mining it did nothing and it even didn't mind me shooting it with the particle canon. (Alas the impatience of the human race.)

Any body seen this or know what it is?

Lmao! Well obviously it has come in peace at least!

I've indeed seen it before some time ago, it's a small graphical bug of sorts I think. I wasn't able to reproduce it back then though.

No,...

it wasn't a bug.

It had no appendages.

And I did not hear celestial music while inside, which was disappointing.

Quick save right before you destroy an asteroid. Destroy the asteroid then self destruct. Respawn and look where the asteroid was destroyed. You might see it again. I believe it's some sort of untextured asteroid, similar to a ghost ship. But instead of there being a polygonal frame for the asteroid you will see a sphere.

I saw your post and screen shot over on Alliance.

That definitely looked like a bug. It had legs!
