Hi all, just bought Evochron mercenary.

As the title says, just recently bought this game.

I noticed this game around the Steam Xmas sales and it was so cheap I figured it was worth a go.

It aint pretty like other Space sims, but I quite like the ability to land on planets and advanced controls, like being able to divert energy to different shields etc (kind of reminds me of Xwing vs Tie fighter )..

The navigation takes some getting used to, but after reading some tutorials here, I worked it out.
(Flipping between top and rear view to set coords properly)

I'm a bit of a veteran of Space sims, having started with Elite wayback when it was brand new, then privateer, freelancer, , X2, X3 etc..

Anyway, I'll probably play the single player game for a while before venturing onto the multiplayer servers.

Welcome to the game!
The difference between single and multiplayer is negligable, if you pick a quiet server then you may as well be on single player. The busiest server ive noticed is the US one so far, which has player-built stations everywhere jacking with the prices of everything, so best bet is try either EU_NL or one of the others, since those are active, but quiet

I briefly went on the NL server and was greeted in a friendly fashion, so will be going back there when really I've really got to grips with the game.
Like done some missions, navigating around different sectors, some combats etc.

Hi danskmacabre, and welcome to the game mate.
I play on the EU_NL server as well, and although it's mostly quiet during the day because of most people being at work or school, it can also draw a nice crowd in the evenings and weekends.

Oh and about the game graphics: there is an expansion in the works, which will feature a LOT of graphic improvements. But also new station designs and other stuff. You can read more about it here.

As I work during the day in the weekdays, I would only be playing in evenings and weekends as well.

I did find somewhere you can improve the graphics as they are by using your video card control panel to override the graphics settings. For example I use an Nvidia card, so the nvidia control panel has settings to improve anti aliasing, etc etc..
I will check that out tonight.

Am looking forward to the expansion. Is there any indication as to how much the expansion will cost?
