Question about Coop Gaming

Post by Sandermatt »

Hi,
I heard this game has coop. A lot of it however seems to be centered around clans and larger servers. How difficult will it be to just play this game similar to singleplayer but as two players. So to be the only 2 human players.

Another question would be if this game can be run on a dual core (I have six cores and we have a quad and a dual core except this PC, it would just be nice if we could use the dual instead of the quad core for this game)

I would like to play Coop games with my family members. What exactly would we need to do to be able to play coop games among ourselves and save everything from these games.

I heard you cannot save certain things if you do not join a larger multiplayer server.

The game is amazing, if you like space flight sims it is your game. Try the demo to have a taste.
As for playing alone with your friends - family etc. you can run your own server and everything you built will exist in that universe.
Depending on your actions you will survive (or not) in the game.

For more info wait for the people who are more capable to answer.

Hope to see you out there though, in a public server, exploring side by side. :D

Welcome Sandermatt. I think Arvoch Alliance may be the game ur looking for.

It's the EM fighter pilot sequel whose multiplayer can only be accessed by the host id. The gameplay is not a sandbox.

All missions/instances are AI predetermined. Good luck Pilot

Self-interest rules. Nothing is ever as it seems cuz no 2 people see the same thing the same way. Reality is illusion, and objectivity is void. Self-interest rules absolutely.

Your family members will love Evochron Mercenaries!!!
Coup Games, building Stations, clan wars, 11 servers up all the time. If you just want your family to play you can host your own server.
Have a family disagreemant then fight it our with the winner deciding.
If you like exploring, mining, coup contracts, trading, building an empire buy Evochron Mercenaries and tell them SKY KING sent you!!!!!!
And by the way the learning curve is easy and a blast (literally).:P:P:P:P

You can run this game on Single core 2.4 or higher. Captain_Cronic uses a single core 3.0 with a graphic card. I run a dual core 2.0 and this game is a riot.

Sandermatt there are some missions that are built specifically for multiple persons/1 player with an AI fleet. Otherwise, exploring can be done largely solo (in my experience). The more experience you have and the more skilled you get at the game's combat (which is unlike just about everything I've ever played) the more you'll be able to handle. There's more than one pilot here who can take on AI 10 at a time, and with practice it's not a difficult thing to master. Doing it WELL however... :)

I dunno if there's a password feature to prevent unauthorised server access though. Perhaps someone else would have more details.

 For the longest time, Denny and I were a clan of two (we have grown since then ... to a clan of four or five). The Evochron universe is big enough to give two pilots a chance to work together without being "bothered" by anyone else. When in the same sector, they can use the in-game audio chat. They can find each other via little green dots which show up on both the Navigation map and the Quadrant map. Or you can simply set up your own server.

Question about Coop Gaming

Post by Sandermatt »

Ok, we bought the game 3 times. I also downloaded the server software to host a server. However when we tried to play the game one person always got kicked automatically, when the third person joined. We played a little jost by joining each other per IP tough. I have to mention that one of the PC's from which we tried to play was also hosting the server. The PC is rather powerful, so performance shouldn't be an issue. Any idea where the problem is?

The problem seems to be the Hosting Computer. You can not host and play on the same computer! So you need to connect a third seperate computer to the Server/Host for all 3 of you to play!....;)

Ok, to play with 3 players we need 4 PC's that is going to be close. I am not sure if we have more multicore PC's. In case I find a 4th PC, should I try to play on the weakest PC or host on the weakest and play on the better PC's?

I'm not sure, but I think it depends how well each handles the resources available on each computer!, You can try it both ways, and see which one works best since it does not take that long to switch the host and client around!...;)

 I'd first try putting the server on the worst computer. Try both versions of the server (with and without graphic output).

Ok, we are still trying to fix a forth PC. We also continued to play. We did some mining and tried to find items. Mining was very profitable, but we never found the items the Naavy wanted us to find. Another problem is that there is no fighting so far. How can we get missions that involve some kind of combat?

Combat starts in the Olympus system (or that's when it did for me). If you follow the IMG contracts it will take you there soon, or you could just take the jump gate to it in the sapphire system.

 Keep in mind that there are four global levels of reputation. They are listed on the right side of the Navigation map and are color coded: green, yellow, orange and red. In green (good) star systems, you won't find any contracts for combat. In red (hostile) systems you won't find anything but combat contracts ... and the hostility is hairy. So, you should probably start off slow, with systems in the yellow ... and work your way up to the red.
