Lost in space, literally.

Post by isbj0rnen »

Hey ppl :) Ive been playing for about 40h straight and I ended up in Atlas and started to make good profit out of mining (constructed a trade station 800m from an asteroid) but after a while I got restless and I heard that you could do good money out of going to the Pearl system, so I started my journey...

I came to Thulban and after that I couldnt find the right stargate so I took a short cut (my ass :P ) So now im lost in space... im at "system a708" and have about 377 of fuel left cuz in my crazyness I builded another trade station so I could get fuel if I would get lost... and yes, im very lost and now I cant build more stations cuz the info is refering to "must be within etc"

Any ideas? My last save is from my trade station and Ive tried to go back the same way but always failing :)

haha sry about this post (im a Elder scroll's person and I like to explore, but not this much ;)

added a pic.

/kind regards, a crazy Swede

Sounds like me earlier today! I got REALLY lucky and found a wormhole at 191 fuel that sent me to civilization and a jumpgate, but i'm not rly sure what you should do (i'm very new to the game still). I'd wait for someone else to post. If worst comes to worst though you could check your surrounding areas for a wormhole or something. Good luck! :)

Hi there isbjOrnen (what a name to type lol!). The solution is simple:

In order to build a station, your location has to be within the -50.000 / 50.000 limit from the center of the sector you are in. The numbers in the top one of the left set of boxes in your screenshot ('72500') are beyond that.

Simply changing the '72500' to '0' (dead center of the sector you're in) will set the waypoint marker in a good location to build a station. (highlighted in red in the image below)
Image

To make sure you get there with the fuel you have left, it might be better to not set the value to '0', but to '49500'. This is still within the 50.000 limit , but closer by than '0', which is the dead center of the sector.
Then make your way to the nav marker and go ahead and build your station so you can refuel.

and if you can't find a spot to build it, just remember that time and inertia can be your friend in space....

Many many thanks! _-o_

...and now to another Q if you guys dont mind.

Before I go to an online server my and a pal of mine want to get some experience first so we are playing on a server I host.

1.In LAN MODE: What Ive read we can to clantags *[TAG]spacebarNAME*
But when I host a server and we are done and both saving our trade stations and other stations are gone the next load. Is this a bug or is it beocuse we didnt put our clan tag in the stations name?

2. Sometimes when I right click a planet or station they are totally blank, nothing happens, no auto focus on the target, is this bug typicall?

/kind regards Isbj0rnen (and Viper, Isbjörnen means polar bear in swedish but I thought it was more hard core with an 0 in about the year 1998 :P )

1. I think it is the Clan tag in the Stations name, but I could be wrong since I never belonged to a Clan.
2. Follow the Navigational Tutorials in the thread for New Players on this forum. It is not a bug it is just a little bit tricky and once you know how to click on the Map and use it it will be easy!......;)

Hi and Välkommen!

Nice to have another Swede among us.

When you right click and the planet/station... is "gone", it's probably above or below you on the Y-axis.
Try clicking on Rear View in map to tilt the map 90 degrees.

About the LAN thing:
I don't host any so I'm no expert, but I do think that the "Universe" is saved server side, so if you
haven't set up that correctly, you start from scratch every time. Server dudes will most likelly
help you with this.

Hop on MP and we'll have a blast. I normally fly on USS server;)

TY Maarschalk and SeeJay.

I fixed the map problem :)

But the Lan problem still exist, Ive tried everything now so I send an email to the developers in hope that they can give me some more info cuz I havent found it in the search mode here on the forum.

So until an answer is in my hand i just take the boring 10min trip in the pearl system, good money nonetheless :)

...and Seejay, I will see you in a galaxy in the near future!

EDIT:
Found the answer in: /Steam/steamapps/common/evochron mercenary/ReadMe.htm#7

Hosting with the game is generally only recommended for one-time multiplayer sessions (PvP battles for example) and is best used with a LAN. The server program is generally recommended if you want to host a multiplayer session over the internet and is required to save player-built stations and territory control levels

I'm wondering, but may it be, that found places (hidden Systems and Planets) are not saved in the map by the game?

If not, this would be a nice thing to add. Some kind of Nav-computer in the ship, where all found Systems and Plantes as well as Black Holes are saved automatically.

First of all, thx for the faster than light answer SeeJay!! ;)

But is there a plan, to integrate this feature in an addon in future? So that hidden Planets or Systems are shown in the Nav-map after discovery?

(Like in Elder Scrolls for example, where every new fpund place is shown on the map)
