So I've spent quite some time in the Evochron universe now but i still don't understand certain things.

Map:

So I found out that the universe is huge, right? I also found this site with the map: http://mercenary.junholt.se/
Can someone tell me how to use it with the game? As I can see you could see your fuel and stuff. I also can't access the settings and the Tracker, which tracks my position?

About the clans:

I didn't know that the quest missions are also contracts. So Im in a new clan [USF] and got 2% in the sapphire system. Sorry for that one, I realized it aftewards when I looked at the map. But how do I know exactly which system is owned by which clan? The nav map is very generous (is that the word?). And my new clan needs a system too. Do we have to find a new, uncharted one?

Thanks for the help.

If there is a Clan tag and % in a system then a Clan has taken control or is trying to take control of that system. IM has taken control of some off the beaten path systems as I did in one. You can look for systems that have no control or just a little and try to wrest control from others. As far as quests go, most clans will not mind pilots doing missions in their systems for this.:)

Thanks. Do you know how I can use the map with its full functions? Is it a mod?

 Which map? SeeJay's website offers two different programs for exploration: one by Atollski and one by MapMan.

Hi shepard.

There is one online version here: http://evochron.junholt.se/
And one downloadable version here: http://evochron.junholt.se/menus/downloads.htm
Thats the Evometrics and there is also a manual for it at that location.
That one communicates with the game and can be used as a GPS as well.

If you have any problems, just ask and I'll help you.

So if I save a maplog in whatever sector/quadrant (maybe I need an explanation on how this works with save), my NAV computer will save the info where I've visited?

I'm trying to ask in a way where I won't have a mod show me where everything is ahead of time, but keep records of where I've been since I have a horrible memory. :)

Hi Angitherias.

What you want to use is Atollskis Navdata and start it with an empty maplog file.
You save all you want from the program and you can access the logfile from in game.
There is a manual for it at my site as well.

The Evometric is a map that presents all data I and others have found.
It's a database that I still update when I find new systems or someone sends data to me.
You can save your findings locally using this program but you can not remove the
data of all findings. I recommend Atollskis program if you want to find all stuff on your own.
It can even help you find new planets using Trilateration to calculate probable positions.

Good luck and have fun.

 I agree. It's the program I employed to find lots of off-the-beaten-tracks systems. The trilateration option is genius once you get used to it.

 Btw, the "MarvinInstructions" document is probably the one you'll want to start with. It's a bit outdated (Atollski made a couple big changes to the program after the tutorial was finished) but it will at least give you the basic idea as to how the program works and how to set it up.

Hmm, i've tried changing the locations of the files to both my main game directory C:\\program files\\sw3dg/ EM...
and C:\\sw3dg\\em...

both won't load. I get an error message saying windows was unable to run the program, was I to just run the executable or try to run the fullsource (I don't think I need it).

Do you have a navdata.txt in your game folder?

If that file is in the "wrong" format, it might cause you problems (We are talking about Atollskis Navdata right?).

Remove any navdata.txt and create a savedatasettings.txt in your main game folder and put in 5000 to that file.
(This will update every 5 sec.)

Launch program.

If this doesn't help, I'm sure that Atollski will help you out when he reads this.

 You only need the "executeble" ... but I suggest you also get the tutorial (MarvinInstructions.doc) to help with the install.

 The game creates a maplog file for each pilot profile. You must tell the Nav program which maplog you plan to use ... then load the pilot profile which corresponds to that maplog. For example, in your in-game list of pilots (as displayed on the in-game menu page), the first pilot corresponds to pilot0.sw and maplog0.sw ... so you'll need to tell the Nav program to access maplog0.sw!

Thanks for the help all.

But I decided to not use it because the nav map in the game is enough what I need.
