Alternative for Territory Control?

A few may remember me, I played several months back after EM release, but college/life/etc happened, but anyways I've been picking this game up again, and in reading the forums and understanding the current big issue I think I may have a solution.

Taking a couple cues from other successful competitive territory control games, An outline:

The major problem that props up is territory battles come up to no one on a clan being online and the opposing team just running amok, I propose that structures used for territory gain(more on that later) have a "reinforced" mode that, upon what would normally be destruction, the station goes into for a time period of 24-48hrs.

In that time it is invulnerable and possibly the defending clan can vary the end of reinforced +/-4hrs or so to make it more convenient(gentlemen's agreement, what have you). Upon exiting reinforced it must be destroyed by an arbitrary amount of regular (no FT/PM/other I-WIN weapons) in the next 1-3?hrs then it goes back to the mode it started in.

A new station type should be created, a CLAN station (lots can be done with this.. defenses, auto-license for members...). They ALONE count for credit of a system, it doesn't go down or up from missions or online time(or perhaps it can, but only +/- 5%), and there can only be 5(or so) in a system total.

For example, say SD puts up 3 stations in onyx, they have 60% control. That means no more station spam for territory as well!

There should be a way of limiting their placement, perhaps they can only be put up from a gunner seat, forcing 2 people to work in tandem (its a clan, teamwork....) They also can cost much more, but then again money isn't really a problem usually, perhaps cheap enough to make it attainable, but expensive enough to put a dent in even Eclipses' wallet (impossible!)

Benefits from being a member of the clan operating in the owned territory should increase at an arbitrary rate with % of control (i think this already happens with money), perhaps he gets other benefits as well (better mission rewards, higher tech items, basically things that will make him want to defend the homeland)



Just an idea I was mulling over, dunno if its been thought of before, I think it would bring more clan synergy to the table... Comments/Suggestions?

I know...:)

I also know that the better/fairer the multiplayer mechanic of a game is, the more people enjoy it...

What I didn't know is if Vice was debating different ways to run Territory. The way see it, the more options he has to consider the better.
