How do you pick up loot after destroying a ship?

I see the box floating around, but can't figure out how to loot it?

Have an empty cargo hold and use your tractor beam on the container. Alt+B will engage the beam continuously.

Make sure you have a mining tractor beam installed in an equipment slot before using Alt+B.......
