I've been getting the hang of playing but am wondering about the intel given in the mission briefings.
Not that sitting in front of an astaroid for 15 or 20 min trying to optimize my take of plat isn't fun.... but I figured for a change of pace I'd try some combat missions.
in the brief it said to escourt a ship... expected fighters 2
I figure expected fighters 2 could mean 2 - 4 fighters....
but when I get to the nav point there are no less then 9 or 10 ....
am I seeing 9 or 10 instead of 2 because my rep happens to be hostile with ships in that area and it actually only IS 2 hostiles that are part of that mission or what am I missing?

Question about Mission Intel
Indeed try to avoid hostile systems, you have no backup what so ever since everybody hates you.
If you want to try combat you can either go to systems like Cerulean or Olympus Prime, another option is Talison Conflict Zone and take the contracts are either the carrier or Command Alpha, smaller mobs of foes and you have naval backup.

Question about Mission Intel
Ok when i asked this question I think what I didn't realize was that stations are randomly attacked? Was flying with Nubarus last night and we came up on a station... he says "oh the stations is under attack" I'm thinking to myself "wow didn't know that happens" that is pretty cool!
I think I just had the bad luck of trying to run the mission when the carrier was being attacked...
Just tried the same mission today and yeah... left the carrier and to my surprise there was not 9 tango's sitting outside the carrier shooting at me.... flew the mission their were 4 or 5 as expected... flew back and docked and there wasn't another 9 waiting at the carrier this time.
Figure original problem was "wrong place wrong time"
