you know what!
perch, number one

perch (without gauges and hud - essential files):
perch_raw

installation:
download and unzip the file into your evochron mercenary game folder. or unzip and copy.
it should create two folders: 'hud' and 'environment'.
launch the game.
enjoy.

hud and gauges by leto. dude! (:

the hud folder contains the cockpit, hud and gauges.
the environment folder contains a single file called 'heat.jpg'.
its required for the glow when entering atmosphere. (you can change that right away. black = transparent)

enabled shaders and anti aliasing are recommended.
the external frame will become transparent and you loose quite some detail with shaders turned off.

use at your own risk.

some quick info:
this cockpit uses the 2nd method descriped in the EM custom kit.

files & structure:
geometry:
ccpit.X - contains the entire inner frame and components
ccpitreflect.X - contains the outer frame which also is responsible for the weapon fire reflections
ccpitlights.X - illuminated displays as well as the windows

textures:
basemap.jpg - contains most textures you see
basespec.jpg - specular map - how glossy is what
basenormal.jpg - bump/normal map - material depth & height details
these textures come in 2048 x 2048px and correspond with the ccpit.x

you'll find the basemap.jpg arranged squarish.you should be able to identify various parts just by looking and comparing. please note, that some objects are using the same textures. (for example the chair rust is the same as the rust of the v-12 behind you). frame parts are stacked.
more details and how that works soon.
you should allready be able to replace the metal, for example, by simply putting another metal on top of it- with gimp or any picture tool that can handle layers.
the white space around the spartan is for additional geometry added to the perch.

the glossyness is controlled by gray scale. thus you'll find the specular shader beeing nothing else but a manipulated gray version of the base map. black is matte (as for cloth components).
you'll find an extreme example on the armchair, where gaffa meets ruined cloth meets metal. you'll note how materials reflect different.
white is extremely glossy. experiment away!


covodLight.jpg: spartan display, buttons and climate control
gaugeLight_left, middle and right: these allow you to add a glow behind your three main gauges.
the weired german filenames.jpg are the windows (dirt). names will be fixed.
black = transparent
these textures correspond with the ccpitlights.x file

glass2,3 and4.png: window reflections.
gauges.txt: don't touch it unless you are a masochist
ccpitshader.txt: tells the game, what the name of the 3 main textures for diffuse-, specular- and normal shading are.

its what you probably allready got minus hud and gauges.
its purpose is to ease the first steps for beginners, cutting it down to the minimum. (or if you simply like the original hud more)
you need to delete your current hud folder and replace it. (if you are capable of deleting the hud files by hand you don't need that)

all this will prolly get sorted better over time, so that you don't always have to download everything.

in case of loading issues:
low res textures
overwrite the files in your hud folder
lower res heat texture
replace the heat.jpg inside your environment folder

leto_current version:
leto_v2
leto_v3

it contains slightly different base textures and the further processed gauges. it is work in progress. (isn't it always)
more soon.
installation:
procedure is the same. overwrite your 'hud' folder or delete it in advance.

This is a fantastic cockpit....old and used, fits to a mercenary who is is the vast universe!

Fantastic work amigo.

I would like to thank ljon for letting me play with the cockpit and giving me instructions (sharing is caring).

I will keep experimenting with this cockpit until fix all things.

For now i will fly it, i see my clan is at war.:cool:

thanks for the replies so far. beside a polished ego that helps with decisions like: more?

to make sure: its all free to use. if you mod the mod, open a new thread or post it here.. your choice. if here, i'll put them on top from time to time.
i payed attention to only using royalty free textures, the models are yours too ;) keep it non-commercial.

new custom kit somewhen in may/june.
and after that.. there is stuff in the oven.

feel free to post failures you find (fov problem with tripple screen might exist as well), questions, improvements.

pleasant flight, all you creatures. your joy is one huge reward.

OK, I gave it a try. That cockpit design is spectacular! It's my new favorite. I have tried some of the others too, but this one really gives me the feeling of a space explorer. I love the little details, particularly the environment panel showing the air condition. Great work!

Thank you for your excellent artwork and attention to detail!

its what i just wrote down in that 2nd post.
download the raw cockpit or compare the files listed in the 2nd post with the ones you got and delete those not listed.

all very unsorted atm, sry for that. the raw thingy (i'll put it on top, i guess) is the essential and necessary files.
if you delete one of those, errors will occure.

ill restructure these posts (as well as separating the mods) by essential files, texture mods and side-info soon(tm).

One more question. How do I turn the Glare from the sun off so I can see the instruments? I had this off before but forgot how. Thanks.:)

no clue. i guess via the lvl of detail and/or shader settings? didn't try all possible combinations.
or well, (if crossreading the shield impact post) possibly you had a modded glare texture?

doh! I was so eager to try this, but I'm getting CTD at 94% when building the cockpit. I do have the enhanced nebula and capital ship mods, but it does the same thing even if I remove them. I dropped the "heat" file into the environment folder that already existed, CTD. I took it out, CTD. I took out all mods and only inserted the HUD and environment folder from your zip file, CTD. After I returned to Max's HUD it crashed again, then I ran it a second time and it has been fine since, same as before. Can't get the perch to work tough. Big downer. I'll try again later I suppose...
