Galactica 1 server

I have been playing around with the server the router and server pc since i got home from work....grrrrrrr. lol
if there is someone about would they mind just hoping on to G 1 to check it out and report back your findings unless i am with the server. thanks ....

I got on for a couple minutes, but I don't have any good news.

I'm sorry. I was able to get online, but the server didn't show anything once I got on... not even Galactica 1.

When I tried restarting the game it wouldn't even let me back on.

Thanks for trying to fix this Starbuck. I really like Galactica 1.

I got your email and just now tried ... launched the game and checked which servers showed up for MP. G1 is not among them. Blame it on Spring Break ... I think the server is vacationing at Fort Lauderdale.

It's likely the UDP port not being forwarded and opened as need to the local address being used by the hosting system. It may help to capture a screenshot of your router configuration (the forwarding and/or firewall settings if applicable) and send that to me via e-mail. Common mistakes include forwarding the wrong port number, forwarding the port to the wrong local LAN IP, using the wrong protocol on port 3889, or leaving out the UDP port entirely. Just follow up with me via e-mail when you're ready and we'll go over some troubleshooting steps.

GREAT NEWS. ermm what was it oh yes Galactica 1 is working again as of now 23:55 gmt 4/19/. Please all take off your hats to vice who sat through a 4 and a half hour try this ...try that.....with me the truck driver with zero computer skills. With his patiants and knowlage he sorted the probem.

It may still require some looking into. We can apparently get the port to work, but only temporarily. There is a particular model of Belkin modem/router involved along the way that seems to be somewhat problematic when it comes to port configuration. We solved the closed port issue, but even after it's been opened and forwarded, it seems to close down automatically after a while (around 45 minutes according to some other data available on the internet and our own tests here). Now comes the search for why this is the case and how it might be possible to correct it. Maybe a firmware update or some other setting change is needed. I'll plan to follow up with Starbuck tomorrow at his convenience and will try to have some more information for him by then.

sometimes this (similar issues) are solvable with a phonecall.

Last time I was on yesterday there where 2 Galactica 1 Servers listed. One I could not connect to and the other I could. Is this one of those relatively related parallel universes paradox situation?...
