I use a Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar joystick, but have no rudder pedals as yet. I've brought it out of retirement and now have to unearth the discs necessary to program it.

Don't play Evochron Alliance, but I play Arvoch Conflict with a CH Fighterstick USB, Pro Throttle USB and Pro Pedals USB combo. I also have a Saitek Throttle Quadrant hooked up, but it's not needed (and Arvoch appears to only recognize one controller anyways).

hehe nice old poll.

I prefer keyboard and mouse for evochron.

I've got a x52 hotas and a nice logitech stick. uh 3d force something. also a trackir. but I think it's because I used to play tie fighter and those games back in the day with a mouse that I still prefer to mouse spacegames. evochron mouse controls are really different to the crazy mouse scrolling in tie fighter of course, but still. heh. prefer a stick with all plane games, but for space I'll always try going with mouse first

Well finally made up my mind, gonna go back to CH for my joystick and throttle options, I Im going upgrade to a ch fighter stick usb and a ch pro throttle, anyone know a practical way to assign the left and right thrusters without using rudder pedals? Was thinking of assigning it to a direction on a hat switch. Any other suggestions?

I would assign it to "Shield Array" or possibly up & down thrusters, or some other such binding that it is only used in emergency, like stealth.
Have fun... :D

Does it not come with profile programming software. So that you can assign the thruster keys to the throttle stick?

T. Flight Hotas X (Thrustmaster) is my joystick. A little skippy but otherwise a very good intro controller.

I use an old Attack 3 joystick that I pulled out of a bin at Staples for $4.99 CAD. Although the axis selection is somewhat limited, it works very nicely in combination with the keyboard. Having a great time with the game!
