destroy Capital Ship missions

I have completed the IMG missions in CERULEAN. I noticed the missions to spy on / destroy a capital ship was offered by the rebels or guild. Is the NAVY the only faction with Capital Ships ? Or does that change in later sectors ?

The capital ships could be corporate. Heavily armed and often mis-identified.

If any of the capships were as you described, you'd be facing against a shivan capship, you know the kind that has anti fighter lasers, countless turrets, and approaching them as you would skimming the surface of the death star LOL.
