Why wouldn't my auto-repair system work in Andromeda? I had to load an old save because I tried for half an hour to leave through the wormhole, but I kept dying because my ship was too damaged. I was able to get it so I went through the wormhole right upon exiting my jump, but I didn't survive until the wormhole jumped me somewhere else.

If you have a Civillian ship you need an engineer aboard to operate the auto repair system I think....;)

No you don't but the repairs are faster if you do.
The question is, what repair system do you have? It only goes to C3 and it is automatic, but it is not instaneous. It may take some time to repair your ship depending on the damage, but it will be repaired.

I have a class 3, which usually allows me to see the repairs being made.

Are there any other items on the carrier? I found the fusion units near the engine, but that is all I have found and the strategy guide claims there are several high-tech items you can find in Andromeda.
